U.S. bases will be targeted by Hezbollah if Israel hits Iran
BEIRUT, Lebanon, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- A top official of Hezbollah says Iran could target U.S. military bases in the region if Israel attacked the country's nuclear facilities.
Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah's secretary-general, added his organization has sufficient rockets to hit Israeli factories and other sites, The (Beirut) Daily Star reported.
Nasrallah said Iran "would not be forgiving" if Israel were to attack Iran.
He said the United States would be held responsible for any Israeli attack.
Israeli leaders have raised the possibility of a unilateral strike against Iran, and the United States says it will not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons capability.
Nasrallah said while Hezbollah doesn't have chemical weapons and wouldn't use them if they did, the organization has a plentiful supply of rockets.
"We don't have a mighty power but we have a power that is effective. The available power today can represent a powerful deterrent force," he said, adding, "The rockets of the Islamic resistance can strike at any target in occupied Palestine [Israel] that you can think of."
