Raining Shells: Turkish army fires on Kurdish forces in Syria

World War III on the making....

World War 3 Could Start This Month: 350,000 Soldiers In Saudi Arabia Stand Ready To Invade Syria

War Soldiers - Public Domain350,000 soldiers, 20,000 tanks, 2,450 warplanes and 460 military helicopters are massing in northern Saudi Arabia for a military exercise that is being called “Northern Thunder”.  According to the official announcement, forces are being contributed by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, Sudan, Kuwait, Morocco, Pakistan, Tunisia, Oman, Qatar, Malaysia and several other nations.  This exercise will reportedly last for 18 days, and during that time the airspace over northern Saudi Arabia will be closed to air traffic.  This will be the largest military exercise in the history of the region, and it comes amid rumors that Saudi Arabia and Turkey are preparing for a massive ground invasion of Syria.
If you were going to gather forces for an invasion, this is precisely how you would do it.  Governments never come out and publicly admit that forces are moving into position for an invasion ahead of time, so “military exercises” are a common excuse that gets used for this sort of thing.
If these exercises are actually being used as an excuse to mass forces near the northern Saudi border, then we should expect an invasion to begin within the next couple of weeks.  If it happens, we should expect to see the Saudi coalition storm through western Iraq and into Syria from the south, and it is likely that Turkey will come in from the north.
The goal would be to take out the Assad regime before Russia, Iran and Hezbollah could react.  For the past couple of years, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and their allies have been funding the Sunni insurgency in Syria, and they were counting on those insurgents to be able to take down the Assad regime by themselves.
You see, the truth is that ISIS was never supposed to lose in Syria.  Saudi Arabia and her allies have been funneling massive amounts of money to ISIS, and hundreds of millions of dollars of ISIS oil has been shipped into Turkey where it is sold to the rest of the world.
The major Sunni nations wanted ISIS and the other Sunni insurgent groups to take down Assad.  In the aftermath, Saudi Arabia and her allies intended to transform Syria into a full-blown Sunni nation.
But then Russia, Iran and Hezbollah stepped forward to assist the Assad regime.  Russian air support completely turned the tide of the war, and now the Sunni insurgents are on the brink of losing.
Aleppo was once the largest city in Syria, and Sunni insurgents have controlled it since 2012.  But now relentless Russian airstrikes have made it possible for Syrian, Iranian and Hezbollah ground forces to surround the city, and it is about to fall back into the hands of the Syrian government.
If this happens, the war will essentially be over.
Saudi Arabia, Turkey and their allies have invested massive amounts of time, money and effort into overthrowing Assad, and they aren’t about to walk away now.
If the war was to end right at this moment, a weakened Assad regime would remain in power, and Iran and Hezbollah would be the dominant powers in the country for years to come.  And once Assad died, it would be inevitable that Iran and Hezbollah would attempt to transform Syria into a full-blown Shiite nation.  This is something that Saudi Arabia and Turkey want to avoid at all costs.
So they are actually considering what was once absolutely unthinkable – a massive ground invasion of Syria.
But if Saudi Arabia, Turkey and their allies go in, they run the risk of a full-blown war with Russia, Iran and Hezbollah.  Just consider some of the comments that we have seen in recent days
Reacting to a potential troop deployment, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem said Saturday, “Let no one think they can attack Syria or violate its sovereignty because I assure you any aggressor will return to their country in a wooden coffin.”
Pavel Krasheninnikov, a deputy of Russia’s State Duma, has warned Saudi Arabia that any military ground operation in Syria without Damascus’ consent would amount to a declaration of war, Press TV reported.
We could literally be looking at the spark that sets off World War 3.  I can’t believe that Saudi Arabia and Turkey are actually considering this.
And if it does happen, you can rest assured that Barack Obama gave them the green light to go in.
Unfortunately, it sounds like the decision may have already been made.  Just consider what Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu is saying
“If we have such a strategy, then Turkey and Saudi Arabia may launch a ground operation,” he added, fueling concerns that a foreign troop invasion may soon further complicate the already turbulent situation in the war-torn country.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE voiced their readiness to contribute troops for a ground operation in Syria on the condition that the US would lead the intervention. Damascus and its key regional ally, Iran, warned that such a foreign force would face strong resistance.
And in addition to all of the forces massing in northern Saudi Arabia, the London Independent is reporting that the Saudis have sent troops and aircraft to a military base in Turkey…
Saudi Arabia is sending troops and fighter jets to Turkey’s Incirlik military base ahead of a possible ground invasion of Syria.
The Turkish foreign minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, confirmed the deployment in a statement to the Yeni Şafak newspaper on Saturday, days before a temporary ceasefire is due to come into force.
There are reports that Saudi officials are saying that the decision to send in ground troops is “irreversible”, and Reuters is reporting that the Syrian government claims that some Turkish troops have already entered the country…
The Syrian government says Turkish forces were believed to be among 100 gunmen it said entered Syria on Saturday accompanied by 12 pick-up trucks mounted with heavy machine guns, in an ongoing supply operation to insurgents fighting Damascus.
“The operation of supplying ammunition and weapons is continuing via the Bab al-Salama crossing to the Syrian area of Azaz,” the Syrian foreign ministry said in a letter to the U.N. Security Council published by state news agency SANA.
Of course the Turkish government is not going to confirm that report, but what we do know is that Turkey is shelling Kurdish forces on the Syrian side of the border.  The funny thing is that these Kurdish forces are actually being supported and supplied by the U.S. government.
So the Turks are not supposed to be doing this, but according to Reuters they have been doing it for two days in a row anyway…
The Turkish army shelled positions held by Kurdish-backed militia in northern Syria for a second day on Sunday, killing two fighters, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said.
Turkey on Saturday demanded the powerful Syrian Kurdish YPG militia withdraw from areas that it had captured in the northern Aleppo region in recent days from insurgents in Syria, including the Menagh air base. The shelling has targeted those areas.
The hostility between Turkey and the Kurds goes back a long, long way.  The Syrian Kurds are not threatening Turkey in any way right now, but Turkey is using the instability in the region as an excuse to lob artillery shells at a hated enemy.  It is an act of naked aggression that the Obama administration should be loudly denouncing.
In addition, it is being reported that Syrian government forces have also been getting shelled by the Turkish military
Anatolia news agency reported that the Turkish military hit Syrian government forces on Saturday, adding that the shelling had been in response to fire inflicted on a Turkish military guard post in Turkey’s southern Hatay region.
Turkish artillery targeted Syrian forces again late on Saturday, according to a military source quoted by RIA Novosti. The attack targeted the town of Deir Jamal in the Aleppo Governorate.
Needless to say, the Russians are quite alarmed by all of this.
In fact, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is warning about what could happen if things spiral out of control
In the wake of Saudi Arabia’s proposal to send in ground troops on Thursday, the Russian Prime Minister claimed the move could spark a new world war.
“A ground operation draws everyone taking part in it into a war,” he told the Handelsblatt newspaper.
“The Americans and our Arab partners must consider whether or not they want a permanent war.”
If Saudi Arabia, Turkey and their allies launch an invasion and make a mad dash to take out the Assad regime in Damascus, the Russians will inevitably respond.
And if tactical nuclear weapons are necessary to keep the invading forces out of Damascus, the Russians will not be shy about using them.
I don’t know if I have ever seen a scenario which was more likely to initiate World War 3 than the one that we are watching unfold right now.
So what has the mainstream media been saying about all of this?
Incredibly, they have been almost entirely silent.  When he went looking for news about these events, James Bailey could find almost nothing on either Fox News or CNN…
I just visited the home page for Foxnews.com and found not one single mention of the insane events now unfolding in the Middle East. I could not believe it, so I used my Find tool to search for Syria and Saudi Arabia. Not one mention!
Of course that could change at any moment, but nothing there when I checked. Their stories were all about the meaningless Presidential election, which has already been decided regardless of what we think about it, and other stories about entertainment, sports, Congressional political theater, etc.
So I went to CNN and found just about the same thing with one news story about the Syrian cease fire, but when I read it there was no mention of any of the big events that have developed this week. This is truly an amazing media blackout!
But Fox News does have space to run headlines like these…
And CNN apparently thinks that these news stories are more important than the potential beginning of World War 3…
If Saudi Arabia, Turkey and their allies are going to conduct an invasion of Syria, the most likely time for this to happen will be by the end of this month during these military exercises.
If we can get to March 1st and no invasion has happened yet, perhaps we can breathe a little sigh of relief.
But if it does happen, and the Russians and the Iranians decide to shoot back, it really could be the start of World War 3.
If you have not been paying attention up until now, you need to start, because this could literally change everything.

World War III Is Unfolding As You Read These Words

Let us revisit an observation I made three years in this column. I quoted General Dempsey as he warned Obama that if continued to intervene in Syria, we needed to be prepared “for what would come back our way”. Dempsey was undoubtedly talking about a Russian military response and the potential for World War III. Later, I predicted that World War III would begin in Syria.

The War Has Begun

“Turkey’s artillery opened fire on the positions of the Syrian Army in the vicinity of Aliya mountain in the northwestern part of the province of Latakia.”  Are these the first shots of World War III?
Meanwhile, the Turkish shelling of Kurdish positions continued for more than three hours. Hundreds of Kurds have been killed. Turkish forces are using mortars and missiles and firing from the Turkish border not far from the city of Azaz in the Aleppo Governorate. The Turks have even set up a refugee camp INSIDE of Syria which will prevent refugees from streaming back across the border. Further, the Kurds are not being allowed to enter the refugee camp. As yourself, why isn’t the American media covering these events? Answer: They do not want to let the American people just how close to war we truly are.

Turkey: Ankara, Riyadh Ready to Send Troops to Syria

Turkey and Saudi Arabia are ready to put their respective military forces on the ground inside of Syria under the pretext of fighting Daesh.  Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Chavushoglu says Ankara and Riyadh could enter into a ground operation in Syria if necessary. According to Chavushoglu, Saudi Arabia is in the process of deploying their fighter jets and bombers  at Injirlik, which is near the southern border of Turkey and Syria
Riyadh has been lobbying for a ground invasion of Syria by forces from its closest allies in the region. Syria, in an escalating war of words, has warned Turkey against doing so and have threatened to send the Turks and their allies home in coffins.

Just When It Cannot Get Any Worse

Dimitry Medvedev draws a line in the sand against Turkey and Saudi Arabia intentions to put boots on the ground inside of Syria.
Dimitry Medvedev draws a line in the sand against Turkey and Saudi Arabia intentions to put boots on the ground inside of Syria.
Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE have all expressed their willingness to commit troops to the escalating conflict. Saudi Arabia is participating in a military buildup on the Syrian border as I write these words. And what was the Russian response to this course of action? Predictably, Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev has said an intervention by foreign powers would result in “permanent” war in the region. The proverbial line in the sand has been drawn.

Motivations for Turkey and Her Allies to Invade Syria

In a direct means to compensate for the loss of Ukraine as an energy hub in the midst of that civil war, Russia reached out to NATO member Turkey, in 2014, and reached an accord to bypass Ukraine as a conduit for oil shipments.
Turkey’s gas deal,  inked with Russia in the Spring of 2014, represented one more time that the grand chess master, Putin, had apparently outmaneuvered the amateur checkers player, Obama. With this gas deal, Turkey may not have formally left NATO, but make no mistake about it, Turkey had left NATO with this deal. Further, Russia could bypass Ukraine with regard to the shipment of Russian oil. This was Turkey’s way of obtaining cheap access to energy. Putin was all too happy to oblige if he could negate the military threat that Turkey would pose if Russia were to ever intervene in Syria, which it subsequently has.
Turkey and Russia are long-time adversaries since the implementation of the Cold War and the advent of the 1947 Truman Doctrine. This gas deal looked like a staggering blow to the U.S. and NATO because Turkey has been not only a key NATO ally, but it has been the linchpin of all American efforts to bypass Russia with oil and gas pipelines. The situation caused by the Turkey-Russia gas deal was so dire, that in the event of World War III, the U.S. would be forced to destroy this pipeline. In other words, Turkey would have become a military ally with Russia.
The South Stream energy deal was supposed to run through the Black Sea, Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary into Austria and points west and it attempted to counter South Stream by proposing another pipeline, called “Nabucco” which was to have linked Austria, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria with Turkey and Azerbaijan. This pipeline failed because the United States blocked funding for the pipeline and or a source of gas. Are you keeping a body count of the NATO allies which are going to have extreme difficulty heating their homes and businesses and would have been subject to Putin’s blackmail? From a military perspective, these nations provideda buffer between Russian invasion of America’s primary NATO allies of Germany, France, Italy and the UK. Putin would then focus on seeking defectors from these four allies. So, how did the United States respond to the threat? ISIL, through the complicit support of the CIA began supplying cheap oil, very cheap oil, to the Turks and her regional allies. In exchange, Turkey was forced to militarily intervene in Syria, or at least slow the Russians down and this is what we are presently witnessing.
In summary, the United States/Federal Reserve avoided catastrophe because they were able exert enough pressure on Turkey to withdraw from their Russian deal. Turkey backed of this deal in July of 2015 after the CIA began to exert real pressure on Turkey.
Checkmate on Putin and his attempt at using oil to blackmail members of NATO into leaving the alliance.

A Continent Away, NATO Continues to Provoke Russia

The Map Does Not Lie: Again, Checkmate, Mr. Putin
Moscow has repeatedly referred to NATO expansion as a “provocation”, and western officials believe it has fueled anti-government protests in Montenegro in an attempt to stop the country’s membership bid. However, the Montenego parliament, apparently being bribed by western banking interests, has voted to join NATO and the government in Podgorica has carried out reforms of its armed forces and defense ministry to enhance its eligibility. This will be a done deal by this Wednesday.
Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, told a Bosnian newspaper: “With regards to the expansion of Nato, I see it as a mistake, even a provocation in a way. This is … an irresponsible policy that undermines the determination to build a system of equal and shared security in Europe, equal for everyone regardless of whether a country is a member of this or that bloc.”

The situation related to Syria is so fluid and volatile that it could be likely that by the time that you read these words, this article may be outdated. This is the story of the day, and the only place that you can read about it is in the Independent Media.

The Myth Makers

Walt Disney and Wernher Von Braun

Most Americans are aware of the German rocket engineer Wernher Von Braun’s association with NASA. Following is an excerpt from Wikipedia.

In his twenties and early thirties, Wernher von Braun worked in Germany's rocket development program, where he helped design and develop the V-2 rocket at Peenemünde during World War II. Following the war, von Braun worked for the United States Army on an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) program before his group was assimilated into NASA. Under NASA, he served as director of the newly formed Marshall Space Flight Center and as the chief architect of the Saturn V launch vehicle, the superbooster that propelled the Apollo spacecraft to the Moon. According to NASA, he is, "without doubt, the greatest rocket scientist in history," as well as the "Father of Rocket Science." In 1975, he received the National Medal of Science. He continued insisting on the human mission to Mars throughout his life.

What makes a deception particularly effective is the merging of truth and lies. A deception based wholly on lies is implausible, and more difficult to sell to the public. NASA does employ rocket scientists, and they do send rockets beyond Earth’s atmosphere. NASA, however, has never sent men to the Moon, and Wernher Von Braun’s insistence that men can reach the planet Mars is only credible to those who believe man has already walked on the lunar surface. As we have observed, the Saturn V rocket, whose success is credited to Wernher Von Braun, was a work of deception. Its publicized capabilities were exaggerated. NASA did not possess a heavy lift rocket with the capability of sending 130 tons of equipment into lower earth orbit, and from there propelling men all the way to the Moon.

Before taking the oversight position of the Saturn V development program, Wernher Von Braun had declared that it would require a far more colossal rocket to reach the Moon. In the book Conquest of the Moon, published in 1953, Wernher Von Braun made the following comments.

It is commonly believed that man will fly directly from the earth to the moon, but to do this, we would require a vehicle of such gigantic proportions that it would prove an economic impossibility. It would have to develop sufficient speed to penetrate the atmosphere and overcome the earth’s gravity and, having traveled all the way to the moon, it must still have enough fuel to land safely and make the return trip to earth. Furthermore, in order to give the expedition a margin of safety, we would not use one ship alone, but a minimum of three… each rocket ship would be taller than New York’s Empire State Building and weigh about ten times the tonnage of the Queen Mary, or some 800,000 tons.

(Third from left on the back cover is Wernher Von Braun.)

Why did Von Braun state that it would require such a colossal rocket to send men to the Moon? At the time he made this statement, he had been studying mathematics, physics, and rocket design for 25 years. His comments in Conquest of the Moonrepresent the rational conclusions of a man who had spent decades designing rockets. Why did his estimation of what was required to land men on the Moon and return them to Earth alter so significantly after NASA hired him to salvage the Saturn V, a rocket which despite 5 years of development at Rocketdyne, the leading rocket builder in America, had not recorded a single successful launch by 1967? Were Von Braun’s remarks in this book a disclosure of the reality of rocket science at the time, while his work at NASA was more myth than reality?

NASA has built a mythological reputation around this German rocket scientist. This was out of necessity, for only “the greatest rocket scientist in history” could possibly have pulled off such an astounding feat as building a rocket capable of sending men to the Moon and back in the 1960s. Consider the extraordinary nature of the accomplishment attributed to Wernher Von Braun. On January 31, 1958, America sent its first rocket into space. This was the Explorer 1 Mission atop a Juno 1 rocket. The total weight lifted into space was 30 pounds (14 kilograms). By 1967 NASA’s most capable rocket, the Saturn 1B, could reportedly lift 46,000 pounds (23 tons) into low earth orbit. NASA would need a rocket capable of lifting 260,000 pounds (130 tons) into low earth orbit, and then boosting 90,000 pounds of that payload into a lunar trajectory to carry it an additional 240,000 miles to the Moon, and an equal number of miles on the return. How do you get from 23 tons in low earth orbit (approximately 120 miles) to 130 tons in low earth orbit, with the additional task of delivering the Apollo spacecraft all the way to the Moon and back (nearly half a million miles) in a little more than one year’s time? You call in Superman, Wernher Von Braun, and assign the task to him.

One goal of this book is to help Christians discern when they are being propagandized. When Satan and his human disciples intend to pull off an extraordinary deception, they begin by laying the groundwork for their illusion so it will not seem so incredible when it is revealed. Prior to the Apollo Space Program, magazines, science fiction books, television shows, and movies began regaling the public with stories of men exploring space via rockets. Werhner Von Braun’s book Conquest of the Moon was merely one of a great many media publications which began to seed into the thoughts of mankind the idea that men could reach beyond their own planet to the heavens beyond, extending their dominion over the creation.

Conquest of the Moon arose from a series of lengthy articles in the very popular Collier’s magazine. Collier’s was the fourth most popular magazine in the 1940s and 1950s. It lagged behind only Life, Look, and The Saturday Evening Post. In 1952, Collier’s organized a symposium of the world’s leading experts in space exploration. Among them were Wernher von Braun, then technical director of the Army Ordinance Guided Missile Development Group; Fred L. Whipple, chairman of astronomy at Harvard University; Joseph Kaplan, professor of physics at UCLA; Heinz Haber, of the US. Air Force Department of Space Medicine; and Willy Ley, an authority on space travel and rocketry. The symposium published a series of articles which appeared in Collier’s beginning in March of 1952 and running through April 1954. These articles served as the source for three books, all of which were highly illustrated: Across the Space Frontier (1952), Conquest of the Moon (1953), and The Exploration of Mars (1956).

These books in turn spawned many additional publications.

Project Mars by Willy Ley and Wernher Von Braun

From the 1950s onward, space flight became a popular subject in the media. Through a constant barrage of books and articles, movies and television shows, the public was being prepared to accept the idea of man being able to travel to other celestial bodies.

At the same time, Wernher Von Braun was being built up to mythological proportions. He was the German master of rocketry who would help America, and all of mankind, realize their dreams of reaching to the stars. Walt Disney, no stranger to creating world’s of fantasy, was called upon to help prepare the public to accept a future vision of manned space travel. Disney produced a number of special broadcasts on the subject of space exploration. Wernher Von Braun was further immortalized through these broadcasts, his reputation growing to astronomical proportions.

Man in Space - 1955

Trip Around the Moon - 1955

Disney produced many more programs on the subject of Moon exploration and space travel. Isn’t it interesting that the company that made a global icon of a talking mouse would also play a key role in selling the idea of Moon exploration to mankind?

I do not doubt that Satan was mocking the folly of man by tying the two together. For those not yet aware, Walt Disney had deep associations with Freemasonry. Answering the question of whether Walt Disney was a Freemason, a website by Freemasons offers the following explanation.

Now part of what may have cause(sic) the confusion is that during the 1950s, Disneyland sponsored various clubs for its employees, including a knitting club, a shooting club, a skiing club, bowling and softball teams. There was also a Masonic club at Disney, presumably for the employees who were Freemasons.

However, even though Disney wasn't a Freemason, he did belong to Demolay as a boy, which is a fraternal organization sponsored by Masonry. While many Demolay do go on to become Freemasons, Walt Disney never joined a Masonic Lodge. Walt Disney was kind of a big deal in Demolay--he was only the 107th member to join the organization, and a member of the Mother Chapter. He was later inducted into Demolay's Legion of Honor, and the Hall of Fame. He was very fond of the Demolay organization, and spoke out favorably about it often. In fact, he made his creation, Mickey Mouse, a member of Demolay!
[Source: http://www.midnightfreemasons.org/2011/10/walt-disney-freemason-or-not_26.html]

DeMolay is a Masonic organization for children named in honor of Jacques De Molay, the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar, the paternal organization to which Freemasonry traces its roots. Jacques De Molay was burned at the stake in the year 1314, having been accused of numerous profane and obscene crimes. The Knight’s Templars were accused of many sordid acts, including worshiping Baphomet and indulging in homosexuality, pedophilia, and other forms of sexual debauchery. When one examines how the Walt Disney company perverts and sexually corrupts the lives of youth today, it is quite believable that the spirit of De Molay permeates this organization.

Others have speculated that Walt Disney was secretly a 33rd degree Freemason. This conclusion is supported by the secret club at Disneyland in California called Club 33.

Club 33 is a private club located in the heart of the New Orleans Square section of Disneyland. Originally maintained as a secret feature of the theme park, the entrance of the club was formerly located next to the Blue Bayou Restaurant at "33 Royal Street" with the entrance recognizable by an ornate address plate with the number 33 engraved on it.

Although I believe it was Stanley Kubrick who was given the job of directing the faked Apollo Moon landings, Walt Disney had an equally important role as he prepared the world to accept the fantasy of man traveling to other heavenly bodies to establish his dominion. Walt Disney, along with many others, did what Edward Bernays stated could be accomplished through the skilled use of propaganda. They succeeded in “puff(ing) up a nobody into a great man.” They built the myth of Wernher Von Braun to such an extent that people believed NASA when they said this German engineer had taken a failed rocket and turned it into the most capable rocket in human history.

Von Braun and crew would perfect in a few months “the biggest, most powerful, and most reliable rocket the world had ever seen - and has not seen since.” According to NASA, the Saturn V which had been consistently unstable in the hands of Rocketdyne’s engineers, would have all of its issues resolved in short order under the guidance of their German wunderkind. Not having achieved a single successful launch in the previous five years, it would prove flawless once NASA took control of the rocket’s development. The Saturn V would literally go from zero to hero. And with a perfect track record as the world’s mightiest and most reliable heavy lift rocket, NASA would promptly retire the Saturn V after the Apollo Moon missions, and then spend nearly ten years and billions of dollars developing an entirely new rocket system to be used with the Space Shuttle. The new rocket system would be less powerful, less reliable, and limit NASA to lifting payloads no greater than 50,000 pounds into space for the next forty years.

Only now, nearly fifty years later, does NASA have on the drawing board a new heavy lift rocket that will meet or exceed the capacity of the Saturn V. The Space Launch System (SLS) calls for a new rocket to be ready by 2018 which will be capable of lifting 70 tons into low earth orbit. That is little more than half of the Saturn V’s 130 ton capacity, but the SLS will be scaled up over time until it can lift 130 tons into space.

Artist’s Rendering of SLS with Orion Capsule

Why, with all the tremendous advances in computer processing, space age materials, and new rocket fuels, has it taken NASA 50 years to duplicate what they accomplished repeatedly with the Saturn V in the years 1968-1972? The obvious answer is that the Saturn V rocket did not in reality have the fabled capacity which NASA claims. This also would explain why the Saturn V was scuttled after the Moon missions and all its manufacturing components ordered destroyed by Congress.

If NASA intended to fake the Moon missions, they would not need a rocket with the advertised capacity of the Saturn V. The complete Apollo spacecraft was never seen by the public atop the Saturn V rocket. All the public saw was the outside of the protective cover. Assembly of the rocket and payload components occurred out of sight in a closed hangar, and was then rolled out fully assembled to the launch pad.

The only part of the Apollo Spacecraft visible to the public on network television as the rocket sat on the launch pad was the Command Module. This gum drop shaped module at the very top of the rocket is what the public saw the astronauts entering as they were strapped into their seats. Of the three modules, which also included the Service Module and the Lunar Module, the Command Module was the lightest of the three. It weighed only 11,000 pounds. NASA could easily have left the other modules out. They could have then used a far less powerful first stage for the Saturn V rocket than what would be required for an actual Moon mission.

Rocketdyne had met only with failure when attempting to combust the immense volume of fuel required for the five massive F1 engines of the Saturn V. For comparison, the Saturn 1B rocket used a cluster of 8 H1 engines, each of which provided 200,000 pounds of thrust. The Saturn V design called for a cluster of 5 F1 engines each of which provided 1,500,000 pounds of thrust. The vast volume of fuel which had to be combusted to provide this much thrust rendered the F1 unstable. The heat and vibration led to catastrophic failures.

Wernher Von Braun might have throttled down the rocket, improving its stability. It would be improbable that the public watching the launch could tell the difference between a rocket engine producing 500,000, or 750,000 pounds of thrust from one producing 1,500,000 pounds of thrust. With the weight removed from the top of the rocket, and the payload greatly reduced, this far less capable rocket could still make a good showing as it disappeared into the sky and out of the public’s sight.

Of the three modules, only the Command Module returned to Earth. The public would never see the Lunar Module or Service Module again. The base of the Lunar Module would be left on the Moon. The top portion of the Lunar Module would be discarded in lunar orbit, and the Service Module would be jettisoned to burn up in the Earth’s atmosphere just prior to the Command Module making re-entry. Consequently, there would be no way to examine these components to verify whether they had ever gone into space or to the Moon. The citizens of America and the world only saw these modules through the easily exploited medium of television.

NASA did not even need to send the astronauts into space. It is quite doubtful that if they had gone to the Moon that they could survive re-entry to the Earth’s atmosphere due to the intense heat generated. When satellites fall back to Earth, they inevitably burn up before they reach the ground. The Space Shuttle Columbia incinerated during re-entry when a single heat shield tile broke off. The intense heat of re-entry penetrated this vulnerable area, causing the hull to breach and the shuttle to disintegrate. The Apollo Command Modules would have experienced far greater temperatures than the Space Shuttles because of their greatly increased speed of reentry. The Apollo Command Modules would have hit the Earth’s upper atmosphere at a speed of 24,000 mph. The Space Shuttle’s reentry speed was about 17,500 mph.

It is reported that the temperature of the Command Module on reentry reached 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Space Shuttle, by contrast, heated to 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

In faking the Moon missions, NASA need only show the astronauts entering into the Command Module atop the Saturn V. Due to design changes mandated by the Apollo 1 disaster, the astronauts could open the hatch on the Command Module from the inside and exit freely. I find it quite plausible to believe this is what actually occurred. All of the Apollo Mission sequences would already have been filmed so they could be broadcast to the world as if they were a live mission. The Saturn V rocket’s ascent was never straight up. It always went into a low earth orbit before heading to the Moon. This is why viewers always observe the rocket arcing out over the ocean. NASA could have sent the rocket out of sight to some remote area of the South Atlantic and ditched it into the ocean. All they would need to do afterwards, is roll their pre-recorded film as if it was a live mission, and at the time for the mission’s end, they could drop an Apollo Command Module from a high flying cargo plane in the vicinity of the splash down area, and no one would be the wiser. Any terrestrial observers would see the Command Module floating serenely to the Earth as it was slowed by three immense parachutes.

If such a scenario sounds far-fetched, consider that NASA tested all of the Command Modules by dropping them out of the backs of airplanes. There is video available of them doing this with the Mercuy, Gemini, Apollo, and now the new Orion capsules.

None of the Apollo Mission capsules upon their return from the Moon, were observed hurtling through sky prior to the moment their parachutes deployed, which was typically at an altitude of more than 20,000 feet for the drogue chutes, and 10,000 feet for their main chutes. Although the U.S. government had Navy vessels waiting to recover the Command Modules and astronauts, the splashdown into the ocean invariably occurred either at night, during cloudy weather, or miles away from the location of the rescue vessels. As if they were playing it safe, all three of the Apollo Missions which generated the greatest interest by the public, and received the maximum amount of television coverage, experienced reentry at night. Apollo 8, which was the first Mission to leave lower earth orbit and circle the Moon, Apollo 11 which was the first landing on the Moon, and Apollo 13, whose drama captivated the world, all experienced splashdown in the dark of night when it would have been impossible to observe the capsules being dropped out of the back of a high flying cargo airplane.

The world knows Wernher Von Braun as a rocket scientist. It is not as well known that he knew a few things about faking a rocket mission to the Moon. At the age of 19, Wernher Von Braun began working as an assistant to an older and more accomplished German rocket scientist, Hermann Oberth. Just two years prior to this association, Hermann Oberth served as a consultant to German film director Fritz Lang on his famous movie Frau im Mond (Woman in the Moon), released in 1929.

Oberth was employed by Fritz Lang to advise him on how to make a rocket mission to the moon appear realistic. Fritz Lang wanted to portray the steps required to get men to the Moon in a credible fashion. Space agencies from around the world have duplicated key aspects of Lang’s movie which add drama to the presentation of rocket launches. One such detail is the dramatic roll-out of the massive rocket to the launch pad followed by the countdown sequence.

Fritz Lang Rocket Roll Out

America, ever the dramatic ones, have copied the example of rocket roll-outs first seen in Frau im Mond. They assemble everything in a closed hangar and then slowly roll out the vertical rocket to its launching pad.

Roll Out of NASA’s Saturn V

The Russians have typically followed what they deem to be a more reasonable model. Moving a fully assembled rocket in an upright position where it is subject to high winds and instability is deemed an impractical approach to rocket launches by the Russians. Consequently, they roll their rockets out horizontally where they are far more stable and less subject to wind loads. The Russians only stand the rockets upright once they reach the launch pad.

Fritz Lang also popularized the dramatic feature of the launch countdown. This moment of high drama has been a centerpiece to every important launch in America. Wernher Von Braun learned from the best. What he could not make, he could fake.

America is renowned for its theatrical productions, whether they be Broadway, Hollywood, or NASA. The United States is the land of high drama. NASA has taken this drama to new heights. Millions of people from around the world flock to Florida annually to visit such attractions as Disneyworld, Universal Studios Theme Park, and the Space Coast encompassing Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Base. It is all a world of illusion, but it makes for great entertainment. The show must go on!

Road To World War III: Turkish Army Enters Syria After Second Day Of Shelling As Saudi Warplanes Arrive

Update: The following video depicts the aftermath of the shelling, which has reportedly claimed the lives of at least two civilians.
(as RT reports, "a video released by the Syrian Kurdish news agency ANHA and obtained by Ruptly shows damaged buildings and people rushing to take care of the wounded in the village of Maryamayn near the town of Afrin")
Update: Reports indicate the Turkish army has crossed the border into Syria.
"The Syrian government says Turkish forces were believed to be among 100 gunmen it said entered Syria on Saturday accompanied by 12 pick-up trucks mounted with heavy machine guns, in an ongoing supply operation to insurgents fighting Damascus," Reuters reports. "The operation of supplying ammunition and weapons is continuing via the Bab al-Salama crossing to the Syrian area of Azaz," the Assad government says.
Meanwhile, since all that would take to unleash a full-blown war is for some Russian to be unexpectedly blown up, events like this do not inspire much confidence in the Syrian "ceasefire":
On Saturday, the geopolitical world was shocked when Turkey began shelling Aleppo, where the Syrian opposition has its back against the wall in the face of an aggressive advance by Hezbollah and the IRGC supported, of course, by Russian airstrikes.
To be sure, everyone knew Ankara and Riyadh would have to do something quick if they wanted to preserve the rebellion. Their proxies are being rolled up rapidly by Hassan Nasrallah’s army and Vladimir Putin’s air force juggernaut. But few expected the escalation would come so quickly.
But Recep Tayyip Erdogan is unpredictable (just ask the lone surviving pilot of the Su-24 Turkey shot down in November) and this weekend, he decided that there’s no time like the present when it comes to starting World War III.
Officially, Turkey says it’s shelling Kurdish positions in Syria in self defense. It’s all about securing the border against hostiles, Ankara says. Of course the idea that the YPG are set to invade Turkey is laughable. The Syrian Kurds have secured enough space in their own country to declare an autonomous proto-state, and they needn’t aspire to capturing Turkish territory.
“They are abusing U.S. support to capture land from the opposition,”a Turkish official said, reflecting Ankara's anger at the fact that Russia and Hezbollah's offensive is making it easier for the Kurds to consolidate their gains. “The U.S. should tell them to stop rather than telling Turkey to stop.”
But for Erdogan, that’s precisely the problem. Ankara fears the YPG’s gains will embolden the PKK militarily and the HDP politically and last June’s elections clearly suggest that an emboldened Kurdish minority has the power to shake up the political scene.
And so, Turkey is set to take the fight to Syria in the name of fighting “terrorists”, which for Erdogan, means eradicating the Kurds. As we noted on Saturday, the challenge for Ankara and Riyadh is this: somehow, Turkey and Saudi Arabia need to figure out how to spin an attack on the YPG and an effort to rescue the opposition at Aleppo as an anti-ISIS operation even though ISIS doesn’t have a large presence in the area.
Incredibly, Turkey seems less concerned about the optics than we thought. In short, Erdogan looks as though he’s prepared to simply enter the war on the pretext that Turkey needs to roll back the YPG which, you’re reminded is explicitly backed by the US.
In a way that makes sense. You can’t very well shell Aleppo and use ISIS as an excuse. The group’s presence isn’t large enough in the area. But what you can do is say “the PKK are terrorists, they’re allied with the YPG who are in Aleppo, and therefore, we need to shell Aleppo.”
(Saif al Dawle neighborhood of Aleppo)
Put in the simplest possible terms, what Erdogan is really doing is trying to reopen supply lines closed by Russia and Iran by wiping out Kurdish forces who dominate the northern border with Turkey.
The shelling continued on Sunday. "The Turkish army shelled positions held by Kurdish-backed militia in northern Syria for a second day on Sunday, killing two fighters," Reuters reports, citing the admittedly dubious Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The YPG controls nearly all of Syria's northern frontier with Turkey, and has been a close ally of the United States in the campaign against Islamic State in Syria, but Ankara views the group as an extension of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which has waged a three-decade-old insurgency for autonomy in southeast Turkey."
Jaysh al-Thuwwar, an allied group warned Turkey against further attacks, saying if the country "has goals in our dear nation, we will defend our land and our people, and view it as a hostile party". Again, this comes from the very same groups the US is overtly supporting with arms and air power. So not the CIA-sponsored opposition. Turkey is shelling fighters who literally have the clearance to call in US airstrikes from warplanes that, in an irony of ironies, are flying from Incirlik, the Turkish air base.
And speaking of Incirlik, the Saudis are moving into position.
and Saudi Arabia reportedly established a joint operation room for syrian operations, as Saudi jets arrived to Incirlik

They're also conducting "exercises" dubbed "North Thunder" or, "Road North." Here's SPA (translated):

A lot of words to say this: "We're flexing our muscles on the way to invading Syria."

"What is present now is aircraft that are part of the Saudi forces," Brigadier General Ahmed al-Asiri told Al Arabiya News Channel on Sunday, referencing the Saudi presence at Incirlik. "The kingdom is ready to participate in any ground operations that the coalition (against ISIS) may agree to carry out in Syria," he added.
Remember, Turkey also shelled the Syrian army on Saturday
“Turkish artillery shelled Syrian territory, targeting Syrian Kurdish positions and the positions of the Syrian Arab Army,” SANA news agency reported, citing a letter from Damascus to the UN. Expect those attacks to continue in the name of "self defense."
Meanwhile, the Russians aren't letting up. Aleppo will be recaptured and that, as they say, is that.
"Russia is determined to create facts on the ground, and when they have accomplished this, then they will invite the West to fight a common enemy, this is ISIS," Norbert Roettgen, head of the foreign affairs committee in the German parliament says, underscoring our contention that Russia is determined to negotiate from a position of absolute strength. "Let's be clear about what this agreement does. It allows Russia's assault on Aleppo to continue for another week," John McCain exclaimed. "Mr Putin is not interested in being our partner. He wants to shore up the Assad regime, he wants to establish Russia as a major power in the Middle East, he wants to use Syria as a live fire exercise for Russia’s modernizing military."
Right. And America is seemingly powerless to stop him.
In the short term, the only question now is this: how long will it be before Turkey or Saudi Arabia kills a Hezbollah fighter or an IRGC general?
Or worse: what happens when a Russian ends up dead at the hands of the region's Sunni powers?
