THE LEFT HAS ITS POPE

Image result for left pope

Pope Francis has created political controversy, both inside and outside the Catholic Church, by blaming capitalism for many of the problems of the poor. We can no doubt expect more of the same during his visit to the United States.

Pope Francis is part of a larger trend of the rise of the political left among Catholic intellectuals. He is, in a sense, the culmination of that trend.

There has long been a political left among Catholics, as among other Americans. Often they were part of the pragmatic left, as in the many old Irish-run, big city political machines that dispensed benefits to the poor in exchange for their votes, as somewhat romantically depicted in the movie classic, “The Last Hurrah.”

But there has also been a more ideological left. Where the Communists had their official newspaper, “The Daily Worker,” there was also “The Catholic Worker” published by Dorothy Day.

A landmark in the evolution of the ideological left among Catholics was a publication in the 1980s, by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, titled “Pastoral Letter on Catholic Social Teaching and the U.S. Economy.”

Although this publication was said to be based on Catholic teachings, one of its principal contributors, Archbishop Rembert Weakland, said: “I think we should be up front and say that really we took this from the Enlightenment era.”

The specifics of the bishops’ Pastoral Letter reflect far more of the secular Enlightenment of the 18th century than of Catholic traditions. Archbishop Weakland admitted that such an Enlightenment figure as Thomas Paine “is now coming back through a strange channel.”

Strange indeed. Paine rejected the teachings of “any church that I know of,” including “the Roman church.” He said: “My own mind is my own church.” Nor was Paine unusual among the leading figures of the 18th century Enlightenment.

To base social or moral principles on the philosophy of the 18th century Enlightenment and then call the result “Catholic teachings” suggests something like bait-and-switch advertising.

But, putting aside religious or philosophical questions, we have more than two centuries of historical evidence of what has actually happened as the ideas of people like those Enlightenment figures were put into practice in the real world – beginning with the French Revolution and its disastrous aftermath.

Both the authors of the bishops’ Pastoral Letter in the 1980s and Pope Francis today blithely throw around the phrase “the poor,” and blame poverty on what other people are doing or not doing to or for “the poor.”

Any serious look at the history of human beings over the millennia shows that the species began in poverty. It is not poverty, but prosperity, that needs explaining. Poverty is automatic, but prosperity requires many things – none of which is equally distributed around the world or even within a given society.

Geographic settings are radically different, both among nations and within nations. So are demographic differences, with some nations and groups having a median age over 40 and others having a median age under 20. This means that some groups have several times as much adult work experience as others. Cultures are also radically different in many ways.

As distinguished economic historian David S. Landes put it, “The world has never been a level playing field.” But which has a better track record of helping the less fortunate – fighting for a bigger slice of the economic pie, or producing a bigger pie?

In 1900, only 3 percent of American homes had electric lights but more than 99 percent had them before the end of the century. Infant mortality rates were 165 per thousand in 1900 and 7 per thousand by 1997. By 2001, most Americans living below the official poverty line had central air conditioning, a motor vehicle, cable television with multiple TV sets and other amenities.

A scholar specializing in the study of Latin America said that the official poverty level in the United States is the upper middle class in Mexico. The much criticized market economy of the United States has done far more for the poor than the ideology of the left.

Pope Francis’ own native Argentina was once among the leading economies of the world, before it was ruined by the kind of ideological notions he is now promoting around the world.

U.S. Media Blackout: Russian Troops Clash With ISIS

North Carolina will start removing students without immunizations this week

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will start removing students from classes this week if they don’t have all of their required shots.

North Carolina requires parents to show proof of immunizations on the first day of school, but they get a 30-day grace period.

The grace period for CMS is up on Wednesday.

Channel 9 talked to parents who said it makes them feel secure to know students who don’t have their shots won’t be at school.

“It makes a lot of sense to me,” said parent Gail Porfilio. “Why risk your child, let alone other children.”

New vaccine requirements took effect on July 1 for North Carolina students.

Billy Graham: ‘God Hasn’t Changed … I Warn You That His Wrath’ Will ‘Explode' on the Sexually ‘Immoral’

Pastor Billy Graham, one of the most respected and influential Christian evangelists of the last 60 years, said that God gave us “moral laws” about sex “that are absolute and unchangeable,” and for those who engage in sexual immorality, God’s “wrath” will fall on them and “upon those who encourage others to indulge in immoral practices.”

“From the very beginning, God has given us moral laws governing the subject of sex that are absolute and unchangeable,” said Pastor Billy Graham in a radio broadcast that was re-published in the September issue of Decision magazine. “Nowhere does the Bible teach that sex in itself is a sin. But from Genesis to Revelation, the Bible condemns the wrong use of sex.”

“According to the Bible, morals are not relative. They are absolute,” said Pastor Graham. “There is noting in the Bible that would lead us to believe that God has ever lowered His standards. The seventh commandment says, ‘You shall not commit adultery’ (Exodus 20:14.”

“This commandment has never been revoked or changed in the slightest degree,” said the reverend. “Jesus went further and said, ‘You have heard that it was said to those of old, you shall not commit adultery. But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Matthew 5:27-28).”

AD FEEDBACK

Pastor Graham continued, “God has not changed. What was wrong from the beginning is still wrong today in God’s sight. … He is absolute.”

“And I warn you that His wrath is going to explode upon those who are immoral and upon those who encourage others to indulge in immoral practices,” said Pastor Graham.

Commenting on some of the commercial aspects of American culture in terms of sexuality, Billy Graham said, “We allow our magazine shelves to be filled with obscene literature. Our young people have very little restraint placed on them. In many universities religion is frowned on and sexual freedom is idolized.”

Speaking further about adultery, the reverend said, “Jesus hated this sin so much that He said it is the only thing that can break a sacred marriage contract.”

“The Bible teaches that this sin leads to hell,” said Pastor Graham. “In 1 Corinthians 6, the Bible says that no immoral person can inherit the kingdom of God. There are hundreds of passages that indicate the wrath of God is being stored up against those who commit such sins.”

In conclusion, Billy Graham stressed that legislation cannot cure or fix “moral degradation.”

“The truth that is often overlooked is that while we become deeply concerned and rightly take steps to curb the evil, legislation cannot work a cure in these things,” said Graham. “Many people are confident that legislation will solve our problem.”

“Our problem is deeper than that,” he said. “It is the constant problem of the individual sinner before God.”

Pastor Graham made those remarks in a 1953 radio broadcast that was published this month by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) because its topic, theme, and warning are clearly relevant to the current culture of America. In addition, as the BGEA says, “The unchanging truth of God’s Word speaks to hearts in every generation. Let it change yours.”

Billy Graham, 96, has been preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ for the last 60 years in the United States and around the world. Over the decades, his message reached an estimated 2.2 billion people through 400 preaching crusades in 185 countries on six continents. He is retired and spends most of his time at his home in Montreat, N.C.

Helping Your Child Survive in the New World Order

In my work as a writer and a broadcaster who does not follow the script of Clear Channel Communications or MSNBC, I know all too well that the potential dangers that I face in my attempts to reveal the truth about the lawlessness and abject criminality of so many in power. C
At the heart of my dilemma as a parent, is how do I teach my son to develop a fundamental respect for many of our political and corporate leaders who have no moral compass?

Even If You Have Not Kept Up,Times Have Changed

Golly Wally, we live in a great country!
Golly Wally, we live in a great country!

Even the Fonz can't fix this
Even the Fonz can’t fix this

There was a time that a child could produce a mediocre track record in high school, not go to college, but were able to work in a factory or a department store and climb the ranks and subsequently live a life of wonderful opportunities.

With 86% of our 1968 based manufacturing gone to overseas markets, those days of second chance opportunities are gone forever.

When the Blinders Come Off

My soon-to-15 year old son is showing signs of asking questions befitting an adult perspective of our present political and economic situation.  I am not bashful about identifying the misdeeds of our government when I am writing or broadcasting. Also, I know that I have the intellectual capacity to explain to my son how bad things have become in terms he can understand. However, I have found that I am lacking the skill and knowledge to explain to my son just how bad things are without taking away his hope for the future.
I am running out of time to begin to formulate a dialogue with my son as I know that I will have to say something and say it very soon. Just the other day, my son made fun of Obama and his nation of birth, Kenya. As my readers and listeners will tell you, I don’t pursue the “birther issue” a s a point of emphasis in my advocacy. Yet, my son is keenly aware of this issue. Last night as we were driving home from play that we attended, my son offhandedly said “the rich control Obama and he controls us like a dictator”. In other words, he is getting his education about the New World Order from sources from “OTP” (i.e. other than parents). I asked him where he got that information and he said “some of the kids at school say Obama is a member of Illuminati and it is all over Youtube”.  Life was so much easier when I controlled most of his access to information. I knew that this day would come, but I am finding that I am not prepared with ready made answers about how the world really works. Most adults don’t know how the world works.
Although my son has a growing awareness of how pervasive political corruption is, he does not talk about how he and his contemporaries are facing a world of declining professional opportunities.

Gaps In My Son’s Knowledge

All roads to financial ruin begin with the Federal Reserve, which is neither federal, nor does it have any reserves. How do adults explain this to their children when most of them do not understand this reality of life?
All roads to financial ruin begin with the Federal Reserve, which is neither federal, nor does it have any reserves. How do adults explain this to their children when most of them do not understand this reality of life?

HOW DO PEOPLE GET WEALTHY  IN TODAY’S AMERICA? A total of 90% inherited their money.
Back in the year 2000, 80% of men in their late 20’s had a full-time job. Today, only 65 percent do. Sorry, my son, no silver spoon here. He will have to earn what he gets in a land of increasingly limited opportunities.
There is one factoid that I can fully embrace:
College graduates make four times more, in the course of their lifetime, as do non-college graduates.
Yet, the price of a college education is rising 8 times faster than the cost of living. The ship of economic hope started sailing toward the horizon for many of our children nearly a generation ago when we allowed our corporate controlled Congress to pass the job and wage killing free trade agreements of NAFTA and CAFTA.

RED, WHITE AND SCREWED

Figures may lie and liars may figure, however, there are some numbers that cannot be ignored and they serve to underscore the increasing sense of hopelessness that is creeping across the country.
During 2011, 53 percent of all Americans with a bachelor’s degree under the age of 25 were either unemployed or underemployed.
At this point about half of all recent college graduates are working jobs that do not even require a college degree.
The number of Americans in the 16 to 29 year old age bracket with a job declined by 18 percent between 2000 and 2010.
Incomes for U.S. households led by someone between the ages of 25 and 34 have fallen by about 12 percent after you adjust for inflation since the year 2000.
In 1984, the median net worth of households led by someone 65 or older was 10 times larger than the median net worth of households led by someone 35 or younger.  Today, the median net worth of households led by someone 65 or older is 47 times larger than the median net worth of households led by someone 35 or younger.
In 2011, SAT scores for young men were the worst that they had been in 40 years.
Incredibly, approximately two-thirds of all college students graduate with student loans.
According to the Federal Reserve, the total amount of student loan debt has risen by 275 percent since 2003.
In America today, 40 percent of all households that are led by someone under the age of 35 are paying off student loan debt.  Back in 1989, that figure was below 20 percent.
The total amount of student loan debt in the United States now exceeds the total amount of credit card debt in the United States.
According to the U.S. Department of Education, 11 percent of all student loans are at least 90 days delinquent.
The student loan default rate in the United States has nearly doubled since 2005.
One survey found that 70% of all college graduates wish that they had spent more time preparing for the “real world” while they were still in college.
In the United States today, there are more than 100,000 janitors that have college degrees.
In the United States today, 317,000 waiters and waitresses have college degrees.
Today, an all-time low 44.2 percent of all Americans between the ages of 25 and 34 are married.
According to the Pew Research Center, 57 percent of all Americans in the 18 to 24 year old age bracket lived with their parents during 2012.
One poll discovered that 29 percent of all Americans in the 25 to 34 year old age bracket are still living with their parents.
Young men are nearly twice as likely to live with their parents as young women the same age are.
Overall, approximately 25 million American adults are living with their parents according to Time Magazine.

Over 50 percent of all stocks and bonds are owned by just 1 percent of the U.S. population.

Thank you!
Thank you  for doing your part! At least they could show respect for the country by covering their heart with the correct hand.

And we haven’t even talked about the NDAA, REX 84, PDD 54, the John Warner Defense Bill, etc.
One does not have to believe in any conspiracy theories to know that we have left our children a pile of excrement to deal with.

The Broken Promise for Our Children’s Future

jtChildren need to be worried about their piano lessons, their sports teams, their first crush, their schooling, they do not need to be burdened with dealing with geopolitical issues stemming from the bankers trying to rape, pillage and run this planet into the ground. Yet, our children’s lives are increasingly being dominated by this march towards economic and political totalitarianism.

If you are awake as to what is going on and you have children, you will one day be forced to answer the questions that your children ask about the world that they live in. And for the life of me, I am not 100% certain on how to tell my child how to survive of diminishing opportunities in the New World Order. Do you? The only thing I can think of to tell my son is contained in the following:

STOP MAKING EXCUSES FOR YOUR LACK OF PERFORMANCE. TURN OFF THE TV AND VIDEO GAMES OFF. TRY TO BE NUMBER ONE IN ALL OF YOUR CLASSES. WORK HARDER THAN THE PERSON ON EITHER SIDE OF YOU. DON’T EMBRACE PERVERSION DESPITE WHAT THE MEDIA TELLS YOU IS RIGHT AND WRONG. FOLLOW YOUR PASSION! THERE WILL STILL BE SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE, BECOME ONE OF THEM AND STOP EXPECTING THE GOVERNMENT TO TAKE CARE OF YOU…. FINALLY, DO WHAT GOD COMMANDS YOU TO DO!

Meanwhile…….

Franklin Graham Condemns Obama's Guest List for Papal Welcome as 'Sinful'

The White House is illuminated in rainbow colors after today's historic Supreme Court ruling legalizing gay marriage in Washington June 26, 2015.

Evangelist Franklin Graham has called President Obama's guest list for Pope Francis' welcome this week "disgraceful and obviously inappropriate," even as the Vatican has reportedly objected to the White House's invitation to transgender activists, an openly gay bishop and supporters of abortion and euthanasia.

The guest list for a planned event at the White House's South Lawn to welcome the pope on his first full day in the U.S. on Wednesday includes Sister Simone Campbell, executive director of Network, a "Catholic social justice lobby" which allegedly supports abortion and euthanasia; Bishop Gene Robinson, former Episcopal bishop of New Hampshire who is the first openly gay Episcopal bishop in the country; Mateo Williamson, a former co-head of the transgender caucus of Dignity USA; and also activists from the LGBT group GLAAD.

"This is disgraceful and obviously inappropriate," Graham wrote on his Facebook page Saturday. "Is there no end to the lengths the president will go to in order to push his sinful agenda?"

Graham, who leads the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, said it is wise of the Vatican to "question President Obama's guest list" and that the list of guests "should raise a lot of eyebrows."

The Vatican has taken offense, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The presence of some figures is especially irritating, a senior Vatican official, who was not named, was quoted as saying. The Holy See worries that any photos of the pope with such guests could be interpreted as an endorsement of their activities. The official also wondered if the White House has invited any representatives of the U.S. anti-abortion movement.

Speaking to reporters, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Thursday he didn't know who all have been invited. He added that no one should draw any conclusions on specific guests "because there will be 15,000 other people there too."

Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh wrote on his website noting that "some people are saying that this is perfectly Obama."

"He's got the pope coming, and he wants to insult the pope, put pressure on the pope, and challenge the pope, 'cause the Catholic Church -- and Obama's a leftist, and leftists hate the Catholic Church," he wrote. "Do not doubt me on that. The Catholic Church is in the top five of all-time biggest enemies for the American left and the worldwide left. And so here is, in one possibility, it is a designed effort to humiliate, challenge, make nervous, make uncomfortable the pope."

In June, after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage will be legal across the country, Graham said Obama is leading the nation on a sinful course.

The president called the ruling a "victory for America." Prior to the court's decision, Obama had said, "There has been an incredible shift in attitudes across the country."

"But it is definitely not a shift for the good of America. The shift in attitudes he refers to is the moral decline we are seeing manifest daily around us," Graham wrote on his Facebook then.

"Accepting wrong as right—accepting sin as something to be proud of. Yes, that's definitely a shift. Should we be surprised that he thanked the LGBT community for all that they had helped him accomplish during his time as president?" Graham added, noting that Obama said, "A lot of what we've accomplished over these last six and a half years has been because of you."
