Astronomers Find Ancient Star 'Methuselah' Which Appears To Be Older Than The Universe

I know one that does not makes mistakes...The Bible

Scientists have discovered an "impossible" star which appears to be older than the universe.

The mysterious star Methuselah appears to be between 14 and 15 billion years old - a bit of an issue considering the universe itself is known to have come into existence 13.8 billion years ago.

Oddly enough, Methuselah is even located inside our own galaxy - about 190 light years away.

And even after using new information about the star's distance from us, its brightness and its structure, scientists are unable to place an estimate of its age much below 14.5 billion years - still older than the universe.

Fortunately for the team from Pennsylvania State University and the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, there appears to be a margin of error of about 800 million years, or so - enough to just barely place the star below the age of everything else, if peace of mind is important to you.

State Department Blasts Enemies of Islam

Following car bombings in Baghdad, which appear to have targeted Shi-ite Muslim festivities that marked the end of Ramadan, State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki issued a press release in which she denounced the “enemies of Islam.” “The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms the cowardly attacks today in Baghdad. These attacks were aimed at families celebrating the Eid al-Fitr holiday that marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The terrorists who committed these acts are enemies of Islam and a shared enemy of the United States, Iraq, and the international community.”

According to Reuters, there were twelve separate bomb blasts that targeted markets, busy shopping street and parks, which resulted in the deaths of nearly 80 people. Interestingly, we haven’t seen a condemnation of a jihadist attack this quickly. Even now, the administration does what it can to sweep Benghazi under the rug which was clearly a jihadist attack. However, the “enemies of Islam” don’t get such a courtesy. Patrick Poole writes: As horrific as these bombings are, obviously fueled by sectarian differences, it’s troubling to see that the Obama administration has now put the U.S. government in the business of denouncing “enemies of Islam.” … Mind you, this is the administration that branded the Muslim Brotherhood a “largely secular” organization.

It has taken every effort to purge government national-security documents of any reference tying terrorism to Islam while Janet Napolitano’s Department of Homeland Security proscribed training by anyone declaring themselves “Muslim reformers” (while at the same time government contractors tie pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, and Tea Party views to “violent extremism”). Any government employees that observe that Islamic terrorists themselves wrap themselves in the mantle of doctrinal Islam will quickly find themselves without a job. And when members of Congress have confronted senior administration officials as to whether elements of radical Islam have declared war on the U.S., those officials have angrily protested that Congress merely asking such questions puts them in league with al-Qaeda.

This administration has done everything it can to whitewash Islam. It’s removed references of Islam and jihad from government training manuals, replacing them with emphasis upon Christian extremists as perpetrators of terrorism. The administration has given preferential treatment to Islamists and continues to fund Islamists. Obama even told the United Nations last year, “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.” Muslims have been demanding and getting prayer openly in public schools.

The Obama Justice Department has even had one of its attorneys and FBI special agents threaten citizens that they could face federal prosecution and prison time if they are critical of Islam. So far, no word from the State Department about the final Ramadan Bomb-a-thon body count by Islamic jihadists by this administration. They only want everyone to acknowledge the celebration of the Islamic holiday.

While the press release did address al-Qaeda, offering a $10 million reward for information that helps authorities kill or capture Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, it never ties al-Qaeda to Islam. The hypocrisy of this administration is readily apparent.

Morsi Supporters Clash With Rivals

Supporters of ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi have been pelted with stones and bottles after allegedly trying to enter a government ministry in Cairo.

Local residents taunted them, calling them terrorists and saying they were not welcome before the first stones were hurled from balconies onto marching protesters, according to reports.

Morsi supporters responded by picking up rocks and retaliating.

Women and children fled the scene and two men with machetes were reportedly seen chasing the marchers.

Police used tear gas to try to break up the confrontation.
Police fired tear gas to try to stop the violence

Thousands of Muslim Brotherhood supporters had taken to the streets of the Egyptian capital demanding Mr Morsi, who deposed in an army-led coup in July, be returned to power and members of the group arrested in recent weeks be freed.

"It is a continuation of our revolutionary actions against the coup. It will continue," Brotherhood official Farid Ismail said.

More than 300 people have died in political violence since Mr Morsi was deposed.

Two large pro-Morsi protest camps remain in place in the capital, despite indications they were to be cleared in the coming days.
Mr Morsi's removal from power has led to more than 300 deaths

The state-run al Ahram newspaper reported that security forces were now likely to cordon off the camps rather than take an approach that could lead to bloodshed.

A senior security source told the newspaper that the police and military had not received any orders to break up the protests. Security had been bolstered around the camps to limit infiltration of weapons, he said.

The Brotherhood said on Tuesday that it would take part in talks on Egypt's political crisis, mediated by the country's leading Islamic authority, as long as they were on the right terms.

'Something may come through' dimensional 'doors' at Large Hadron Collider (LHC)

A top boffin at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) says that the titanic machine may possibly create or discover previously unimagined scientific phenomena, or "unknown unknowns" - for instance "an extra dimension".

"Out of this door might come something, or we might send something through it," said Sergio Bertolucci, who is Director for Research and Scientific Computing at CERN, briefing reporters including the Reg at CERN HQ earlier this week.

The LHC, built inside a 27-km circular subterranean tunnel deep beneath the Franco-Swiss border outside Geneva, functions like a sort of orbital motorway for extremely high-speed hadrons - typically either protons or lead ions.

The differences are, firstly, that the streams of particles are moving at velocities within a whisker of light speed - such that each stream has as much energy in it as a normal car going at 1000mph. Secondly, the beams are arranged in such fashion that the two streams swerve through one another occasionally, which naturally results in huge numbers of incredibly violent head-on collisions.

These collisions are sufficiently violent that they are expected to briefly create conditions similar to those obtaining countless aeons ago, not long after the Big Bang, when the entire universe was still inconceivably small - it was smaller than a proton for quite some time, seemingly, still with all the stuff that nowadays makes up all the supra-enormity of space and galaxies and so forth packed in somehow.

Naturally, some extremely strange phenomena are to be expected when one mangles the very fabric of space-time itself in this fashion. Various eccentric nutballs have claimed that this would doom humanity in one fashion or another; perhaps converting the entire Earth, everything on it and possibly the rest of the universe too into "strangelet soup", monopole mulligatawny or some other sort of frightful sub-particulate blancmange or custard.

It has also been suggested that cack-handed boffins at the LHC might inadvertently call into being a miniature black hole and carelessly drop this into the centre of the Earth, rather irritatingly causing the planet to implode. It's certainly to be hoped that the button marked "Call Black Hole Into Being" on the control board has some kind of flip-down cover over it.

Obviously all that's utter rubbish. But some boffins have speculated that black holes might alternatively act as spacewarp wormhole portals into alternate universes, or something. This would seem to chime with Bertolucci's remarks this week on hyperdimensional "doors" out of which might come unspecified "somethings".

Video shows child praying to Barack Obama

A controversial YouTube video posted Sunday by Fox News' Todd Starnes shows a child praying to Barack Obama.

"Barack Obama, thank you for doing everything and all the kind stuff," the young boy starts. "Thank you for all the stuff that you helped us with. Thank you for taking the courage and all the responsibility for everything you have done for us and God has gave you special powers."

"And you are going to handle it just fine," the young boy continues. "You are good, Barack Obama you are great.
And when you get older you will be able to do great things. Love, Steven."

The video ends with a loud “Barack Obama” yell of joy.

"The prayer that he wanted to say for our President is priceless," said the YouTube description of the video.

But the prayer was universally condemned as blasphemous and the result of parental brainwashing.

"Watching this is like watching the kids in the Middle East brainwashed by their parents wanting to become martyrs. Gotta love brainwashing. A mind truly is a terrible thing to use," one commenter said at YouTube.

"Wow, I've never seen such blasphemy. It's obviously not the kids fault, he doesn't know any better... but the parent should know better," said another YouTube user.

A post at the Independent Journal Review said the video "gives evidence that no matter how bad the 'recovery' is, no matter how awful our foreign policy weakens us, people will happily continue to worship Obama."

This isn't the first time Obama has been the subject of praise and worship.

In November 2010, a Newsweek cover declared Obama "god of all things." Another Newsweek cover called his 2013 inaugural the "second coming."

As we reported in 2011, an entire page is devoted to documenting the child worship of Barack Obama.

Last November, Jamie Foxx called the president, "our lord and savior," and Florida A&M professor Barbara A. Thompson called Obama an "apostle" sent to "create heaven here on earth" in a book called "The Gospel According to Apostle Barack: In Search of a More Perfect Political Union as 'Heaven Here on Earth.'"

A poster sold at last year's Democratic National Convention declared Obama to be "Prophesy fulfilled."

“Barak is of Hebrew origin and its meaning is ‘flash of lightning,'” Starnes says the poster explains, "referencing a passage in the Old Testament book of Judges."

According to the poster, "Hussein" means “good and handsome.”

“So you see, Barak was destined to be a good and handsome man that would rise like a flash of lightning to win victory in a battle against overwhelming odds,” the poster added.

Greek Island Of Santorini Is Without Electricity

The Greekovery (where a -4.6% GDP collapse is seen as positive) may be televized, but sadly it will not be electrified.
The Greek island of Santorini, one of the country's premier travel destinations, was hit with a sweeping power shortage on Tuesday after a fire at the island's main electricity plant, officials said.

"The island is without electricity," said a source at the Public Power Corporation, Greece's main power provider.

"There was a fire around midday at the power plant of the island capital of Fira," the source added.
The Aegean island's mayor Nikos Zorzos told To Vima radio that electricity generators were expected to arrive on Santorini after midnight.

Until then, authorities would rotate power between the island's regions to prevent a general blackout. The incident did not affect the island's airport, To Vima said.

Santorini, renowned for its beautiful sunsets and picturesque villages perched on rocky outcrops, is one of Greece's most popular travel destinations, drawing scores of thousands of visitors annually.

Russian Military to Receive Nano-Armor by 2015

MOSCOW, August 13 (RIA Novosti) – A Russian company is developing nanotechnology that would allow production of light-weight ceramic armor for the military and police as early as by the end of 2015, the Izvestia newspaper said Tuesday.

Ceramic armor plates manufactured with the use of boron carbide powder will be used to make bulletproof vests, armor protection for combat vehicles and even for combat aircraft as they would be four times lighter than the existing armor plates.

“The effectiveness of protection…will be 5-6 times higher than that of existing armor while the price will drop by up to 25 percent compared to existing models,” Izvestia cited officials from the Novosibirsk-based NEVZ-Soyuz company.

According to the company, boron carbide armor plates used in bulletproof vests would ensure effective protection from 7.62-mm rounds while vehicle armor would be able stop 12.7-mm and 14.5-mm rounds.

Company experts point out that the new nano-armor could be used effectively to ensure anti-bullet protection of combat transport helicopters, such as the famed Mi-8 Hip, which does not have reliable armor protection.

The Russian government has allocated 145 million rubles ($4.4 mln) for the development of nano-armor technology.

NEVZ-Soyuz is planning to make the first prototypes by December and test them until November 2014.

The production of ceramic armor plates should start in the fourth quarter of 2015, the company said.

The Rise Of The Bear: 18 Signs That Russia Is Rapidly Catching Up To The United States

The Russian Bear is stronger and more powerful than it has ever been before.  Sadly, most Americans don't understand this.  They still think of Russia as an "ex-superpower" that was rendered almost irrelevant when the Cold War ended.  And yes, when the Cold War ended Russia was in rough shape.
I got the chance to go over there in the early nineties, and at the time Russia was an economic disaster zone.  Russian currency was so worthless that I joked that I could go exchange a 20 dollar bill and buy the Kremlin.  But since that time Russia has roared back to life.  Once Vladimir Putin became president, the Russian economy started to grow very rapidly.  Today, Russia is an economic powerhouse that is blessed with an abundance of natural resources.  Their debt to GDP ratio is extremely small, they actually run a trade surplus every year, and they have the second most powerful military on the entire planet.  Anyone that underestimates Russia at this point is making a huge mistake.  The Russian Bear is back, and today it is a more formidable adversary than it ever was at any point during the Cold War.
Just check out the following statistics.  The following are 18 signs that Russia is rapidly catching up to the United States...
#1 Russia produces more oil than anyone else on the planet.  The United States is in third place.
#2 Russia is the number two oil exporter in the world.  The United States is forced to import more oil than anyone else in the world.
#3 Russia produces more natural gas than anyone else on the planet.  The United States is in second place.
#4 Today, Russia supplies 34 percent of Europe's natural gas needs.
#5 The United States has a debt to GDP ratio of 101 percent.  Russia has a debt to GDP ratio of about 8 percent.
#6 The United States had a trade deficit of more than half a trillion dollars last year.  Russia consistently runs a large trade surplus.
#7 The United States has an unemployment rate of 7.4 percent.  Russia has an unemployment rate of 5.4 percent.
#8 Since Vladimir Putin first became president of Russia, the Russian economy has grown at a very rapid pace.  The following is fromWikipedia...
Under the presidency of Vladimir Putin Russia's economy saw the nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) double, climbing from 22nd to 11th largest in the world. The economy made real gains of an average 7% per year (1999: 6.5%, 2000: 10%, 2001: 5.7%, 2002: 4.9%, 2003: 7.3%, 2004: 7.2%, 2005: 6.4%, 2006: 8.2%, 2007: 8.5%, 2008: 5.2%), making it the 6th largest economy in the world in GDP(PPP). In 2007, Russia's GDP exceeded that of 1990, meaning it has overcome the devastating consequences of the recession in the 1990s.
During Putin's eight years in office, the industry grew by 75%, investments increased by 125%, and agricultural production and construction increased as well. Real incomes more than doubled and the average salary increased eightfold from $80 to $640. The volume of consumer credit between 2000–2006 increased 45 times, and during that same time period, the middle class grew from 8 million to 55 million, an increase of 7 times. The number of people living below the poverty line also decreased from 30% in 2000 to 14% in 2008.
#9 According to Bloomberg, Russia has added 570 metric tons of gold to their reserves over the past decade.  In the United States, nobody seems to be quite sure how much gold the Federal Reserve actually has left.
#10 Moscow is the second most expensive city in the world.  Meanwhile, the United States actually has the unfriendliest city in the world (Newark, New Jersey).
#11 More billionaires live in Moscow than in any other city on the globe.
#12 The Moscow metro system completely outclasses the subway systems in Washington D.C. and New York City.
#13 The United States has the most powerful military on the planet, but Russia is in second place.
#14 Russia has introduced a new "near silent" nuclear submarine which is far more quiet than anything the U.S. has...
The Borey Class submarine, dubbed Vladimir Monomakh, has a next generation nuclear reactor, can dive deeper than 1,200 feet, and carries up to 20 nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM).
Each of these "Bulava" ICBM's can carry ten detachable MIRV warheads, what they call "re-entry vehicles," capable of delivering 150 kiloton yields per warhead
#15 While Barack Obama is neutering the U.S. strategic nuclear arsenal, Vladimir Putin is working hard to modernize Russian nuclear forces.
#16 Russian missile forces will hold more than 200 drills during the second half of 2013.
#17 Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin made headlines all over the world when he climbed into the cockpit of Russia’s new "fifth generation" fighter jet and announced that it was far superior to the F-22 Raptor.
#18 It is estimated that Russia has more spies inside the United States today than it did at any point during the Cold War.
Unfortunately, whenever I write an article about Russia I find that most people simply do not get it.  They will make statements such as "the Cold War is over" or "Russia is our friend" which show a complete and total lack of understanding of the current geopolitical situation.
