Another Japan 7.2 Earthquake Tsunami Warnings

Almost Here: How Tomorrow’s Antichrist Cashless Society Will Embolden Big Brother Surveillance And Civilian Control

  • Surveil

It passes through many kinds of devices, flowing from phone to phone, and computer to computer, rather than being sealed away in those silent marble temples we used to call banks. Information never jangles uncomfortably in your pocket.

But wherever information gathers and flows, two predators follow closely behind it: censorship and surveillance. The case of digital money is no exception. Where money becomes a series of signals, it can be censored; where money becomes information, it will inform on you.

US Army Chief Sounds Alarm: Military at ‘High Risk’

WASHINGTON — Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley sounded the alarm that the US Army is currently in a state of “high risk” when it comes to being ready enough to defend the nation and respond to a large conflict.

“On the 'high military risk,' to be clear, we have sufficient capacity and capability and readiness to fight counterinsurgency and counterterrorism,” Milley said at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing Thursday. “My military risk refers specifically to what I see as emerging threats and potential for great power conflict and I am specifically talking about the time it takes to execute the task ... and the cost in terms of casualties.”

Milley added he submitted a personal, classified assessment to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the defense secretary characterizing the military’s risk as high.

SASC Chairman John McCain, of Arizona, said declaring the military to be at high risk “is a strong statement” that he believed was generated from “long and hard” thinking.

The Army’s budget has shrunk in almost every aspect in recent years and the service is having to reduce its size to a total Army of 980,000 soldiers, which include all three components. Yet with the emerging and current threats in Europe, the Middle East and elsewhere, Army leaders believe the force should be as big as 1.2 million soldiers to meet the Pentagon strategy and guidance.

McCain quoted from the Army Capabilities Integration Center director Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster’s testimony given earlier this week to paint a clear picture of what high risk to readiness looks like: “When we minimize our Army, we maximize the risk to our soldiers, the risk that in a crisis they will be forced to enter a fight too few in number and without the training and equipment they need to win.”

One piece of evidence that the military’s readiness is at high risk is the fact that only a third of the Army’s Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs) are ready to deploy and only a couple of those are ready to deploy immediately.

Milley explained that the pair of BCTs that are most ready could fight tonight and, in fact, one is forward-deployed now. “The others,” he said, “they are going to require something in terms of training to get them ready.”

McCain pointed out in his opening testimony that the Army is already stretched thin: There are 186,000 soldiers deployed in 140 locations around the globe.

And back home two-thirds of the Army’s BCTs “would require some amount of time to bring them up to satisfactory readiness to deploy in combat,” Milley said.

The “high risk” assessment for the Army does not take into account what might happen if sequestration is implemented again next year. That would mean lowering the active force from 450,000 troops to 420,000, which could spell disaster in terms of being able to respond to a major world crisis, according to Milley.

Is Ba’al Arch the Mysterious “Gate” in Ancient Messiah Prophecy?

“And Shlomo built Gezer, and Beth-horon the nether, and Baalath, and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land.”(Chronicles 9:17-18)
A recreation of the Roman Triumphal Arch that stood in Palmyra, Syria has been the focus of controversy, and rightfully so. A cryptic section of the Talmud describes the rebuilding of just such an arch as the precursor to Messiah from the House of David.
The original Roman Triumphal Arch stood for 2,000 years as the main entrance to the Temple of Bel in Palmyra, a city known as Tadmor in the Bible. The site has always been important, as a thriving urban center in the Fertile Crescent, but is also known for its powerful spiritual significance.
Originally built as a temple to the idol Ba’al, the Temple of Palmyra was repurposed at different points in history as a church and then, until its destruction in May 2015  by the Islamic State (ISIS), as a mosque. An archaeological wonder, it attracted over 150,000 visitors each year.

The 15-meter tall full-size reproduction is a project of the Institute for Digital Archaeology (IDA), a joint effort of Harvard and Oxford universities. Made using proprietary 3-D printing techniques, it will stand in Trafalgar Square, London as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Week. The IDA is recreating the partially destroyed arch as a showcase for new technology and as a symbol of protest against religious extremism.

There has been much heated controversy surrounding the recreation of the arch. The display in London coincides with Beltane, one of the major occult festivals whose roots lie in worshipping Ba’al through child sacrifice and orgies. The Mesopotamian god Ba’al, for whom the Temple of Palmyra was originally built, is no longer worshipped, though the holiday still exists as a Gaelic tradition and in the West as May Day.
Many have compared the worship of Ba’al to Western secular liberalism. Prophecy News Watch likened legalized abortion to pagan baby sacrifice and internet pornography to public orgies.
The IDA has vociferously denied that the arch which stood at the entrance to the temple in Palmyra for 2,000 years had any connection to the temple. The institute has also cancelled its plans to erect a model of the arch in New York’s Time Square later this summer.
The arch is clearly a powerful symbol to many people. It therefore comes as no surprise that the Talmud explicitly predicts the present day saga of the of the Palmyra arch as a precursor to the Messiah of the House of David. The Hebrew-language religious website Sod1820 pointed out that in Tractate Sanhedrin (78a), the Talmud says:
“The disciples of Rabbi Yossi the son of Kisma questioned him, asking when the son of David (the Messiah) will appear. And he answered: I am afraid you will request from me a sign as well. And they assured him that they would not. He then said to them: When this gate will fall, be rebuilt and fall again, be rebuilt again and fall again. And before it will be rebuilt for the third time the Messiah will appear.”
Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchaki, a medieval French rabbi known by the acronym ‘Rashi’, is the primary source for understanding the Talmud. Rashi explains that the arch mentioned by Rabbi Yossi was “A Roman arch in a Roman city”.
The Palmyra arch is just such a one. Palmyra became part of the Roman Empire in the first century and remained so for the next 250 years. The arch was built in the 3rd century during the reign of Emperor Septimius Severus and represents a classic Roman arch.
The second incarnation of the arch is the full-size replica being created by the IDA. The third incarnation of the arch, which Rabbi Yossi predicted would stand incomplete when the Messiah came, would have been the reproduction in New York this summer.
Though the New York Post wrote that the IDA “plans to construct approximately 1,000 such versions of the arch in cities throughout the world”, Roger Michel, Executive Director of the IDA, contacted Breaking Israel News to clarify that the IDA is “supplying the files only, not the ‘prints’”.  With plans readily available and 3-D printing  becoming more widespread, it seems that it is only a matter of time before construction of another arch is attempted and Rabbi Yossi’s prophecy comes into effect.

For Many, It Is Time to Forget the Election and Save Yourself While You Still Can

tyranny ahead

Our political parties are hopelessly corrupt. The politicians have been bought off by the corporations, we have nowhere to turn. You better learn to take care of yourself then you can focus on the election, etc. But for now, you better get food, water, guns, medicine  etc.  With the meetings going on with the bankers and government, you are almost out of time. At the end of all this will be FEMA camps that will be disguised as debtor prisons. More on that in another article.

The sheep of this country are attempting to get along by going along. However, despite our national capitulation to the New World Order, we are not adapting well as a people. Americans have miserably failed to adjust to our changing status and are paying a steep emotional price for our slide into tyranny while on our way to becoming a third world country. A good day for most Americans is a day where we avoid a catastrophe instead of celebrating our accomplishments. Americans are increasingly a miserable people. We are most certainly the most stressed out people on the planet. Perhaps the biggest slap in the face comes from the fact that the media controllers of today’s society are teaching us to love our servitude instead of inspiring us to reach for the stars. However, this acceptance is not sitting well with America and it is showing up in our collective health.  Did you know that despite paying the most for healthcare, our lifespan is only 51st in the world? Even some third world countries live longer than we do, according to the CIA fact book of 2012. The biggest reason for the decline in our national health, relative to other countries, is the high amount of stress that we are experiencing as a people. Much of the stress we are experiencing comes from trying to find a level of homeostasis in the midst of experiencing personal, emotional and spiritual subjugation. The rubber band can only be stretched so far till it breaks.

Man Was Born to Be Free

There is an emotional and mental health price to pay when a person forsakes individual control over their life, for it is in our DNA to be free. When people are not free, they suffer emotionally, psychologically, spirituality and physically. In America, we have lost our freedom. As a result, psychosomatic illnesses are at an all-time high. The research of health psychologists has revealed that it is psychological factors which constitutes the number one contributor to nearly all forms of illness from cancer to heart disease. Just the nature of the word, disease, or dis ease, speaks to this undeniable fact.  In a ground breaking study in the 1970’s, Steven Bramwell demonstrated that this principle even applied to college football players as he demonstrated that the members with Stanford football team who experienced the most stress, sustained the most injuries related to their sport. That same year, Japanese cardiologists demonstrated the same relationship with heart disease and stress and hence, the term psychosomatic illness came into vogue in the field of health psychology.

Conspiracy of Silence

You don’t hear a lot about the mental/emotional aspects of disease because there is no money in it for Big Pharma and Big Pharma writes the medical school curriculums. Whether, or not, the pill companies want the tried and true principles of health and well-being taught to medical school students as a prelude to intervention, it is irrelevant. The fact remains that America is a sick nation and we are a sick nation because all forms of our personal growth are stunted because we allow our lives to become distracted from the purpose of why we are here. Henry David Thoreau was correct when he said that “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them“.
According to a presentation offered at the IFPE Congress in Vienna, Austria on April 18, 2009, on the results of World Health Organization’s World Mental Health Survey, 19% of studied Americans experienced a clinical anxiety disorder in the previous twelve-month period, which pushes the United States into a ranking of first place in this category.
What do Americans have to be so anxious about? At least part of the answer which explains why Americans have such a high degree of clinical anxiety, is contained in the following paragraphs as it is undeniably stressful living in America under the present set of conditions. We Americans are a miserable people who are dumbed down, drugged out, persecuted, fluoridated, chemtrailed, poisoned by consuming the GMO food supply, breathing radiated air thanks to Fukushima and are propagandized by a corporate controlled media who constantly reminds us about how happy we should be because we live in the land of freedom and opportunity and our imaginary enemies hate us because of our freedoms when the truth is actually the opposite. According to the Economist Intelligence Unit Democracy Index 2011, the United States is tied with Romania for forty-ninth in civil liberties. Several countries such as Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and Norway are tied for first. So much for our freedoms. When most people have a gun pointed at their head, they should know that they could soon die. And when the government passed the NDAA, they are telling you what they plan to do with you if you get out of line, which is to snatch you off the street without due process and “disappear” you forever. Yet, we do not fight back.

Living the American Lie

The truth of the American experience is really quite the opposite of what the mainstream media tells us. We live in a hellish 1984 nightmare where our every move is tracked by the NSA. Every word we speak is under scrutiny. We have no privacy and it has become very clear that the government is no longer of the people, by the people and for the people. The people are no longer the sovereign, the bankers who have hijacked our government are the sovereign and are in near total control of our government. As a result, we are a besieged people. In short, we are an occupied nation which is producing a high degree of misery. Even for the sheep, these undeniable facts are showing up in our collective stress levels.

Most Americans Are a Helpless Group

If a population is exposed to Ebola, 90% will die agonizing deaths. However, 10% will survive and this 10% figure is true for most pandemics. I think the 10% figure is true for resistance to tyranny as well. There are those of us who are seemingly immune to the societal brainwashing and are clearly able to rise up and oppose tyranny. However, I have concluded that most Americans are not able to mount any form of psychological resistance to what is going on, much less any physical resistance. Most Americans suffer from learned helplessness.

Learned Helplessness

learned helplessnessWhen I first began writing, I operated under the myth that if we could reach enough people, that our numbers of resistance would reach a tipping point and we would simply overwhelm the forces of the New World Order. I was not ignorant or naive, there simply isn’t a body of research which addresses this phenomenon. When people were not responsive to seeing through the lies and deception of the NWO, I attributed their blindness to cognitive dissonance in that they were not quite ready to make a mental paradigm shift, but eventually would if armed with enough facts. I no longer believe this is true because most Americans suffer from a psychological condition called learned helplessness. The term “learned helplessness” was coined by psychologist Martin Seligman.  In 1967, Martin Seligman’s seminal research was published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology entitled, Failure to Escape Traumatic Shock. Seligman’s experiment led to the term often used today to describe why poor people do not take obvious steps to climb out of their poverty-stricken circumstances. In Seligman’s dog study, he used dogs that were shocked and at first, demonstrated the ability to escape. In the second phase of the experiment, when a barrier was erected, repeated shocks to the dogs led to them passively accepting the shocks when their efforts made no difference with regard to their circumstances. In the third phase, when the barriers were removed, one would expect the dogs to return to escaping the shocks. Stunningly, even when the animal could see a clear path to escape, they continued to passively accept the shocks, hence the development of the “learned helplessness”. The dogs had been conditioned that their actions made no difference in the outcome, hence the term, learned helplessness. This principle is applicable to humans as well for when people lose hope, they passively accept their fate even when there are clear and identifiable options. I have concluded that most of these people cannot be saved because they are so unresponsive to the dangerous intrusions into their lives and they are programmed to label our warnings as conspiracy theories as they perform their Stepford Wives imitation on the way to their final demise.

Options?

Maybe a collective effort could save this country, but I seriously doubt it. The trump movement is a good first start. But ultimately, we will collectively save ourselves or we will die.
As a whole, I have concluded that America is a defeated nation. I firmly believe that if we gave Americans a choice to fight for their freedom against a combined Chinese and Russian occupation force or to acquiesce, most Americans would say, “It would not be that bad to live under the Chinese and Russians”. Subsequently, I have altered my focus in my writing. I have decided to perform triage in my approach. In battlefield triage, there are always three groups (1) Those that cannot be saved no matter what you do; (2) Those that have some chance to be saved; and, (3) those that have a good chance of being saved with the right kind of attention. I am now writing for people who are in the second or third category. I would suggest to my colleagues to do the same thing. Our time is short and we cannot waste time trying to educate and warn those who are so blind that they cannot see.

Is There Any Hope?

Most of the time, successful military coups do not end well for the people for an old authoritarian regime is often replaced by a new authoritarian regime. However, with present preparations to turn all public venues into detention centers, the criminalizing of free speech and the renewal of the NDAA, Ray Charles could see what is coming. Perhaps our only way out is to hope the military does execute a coup. What do we have to lose? However, you should be aware this will only trigger a civil war between the foreign troops already here and our depleted domestic military forces. I believe as many do in that our only hope for resistance is a long-term guerrilla civil war. Most of this country does not have the stomach for this development and I think this is what is giving the military pause and is keeping them from doing what some think needs to be done. Ten to twenty percent of us understand what is coming and that capitulation and passivity will not save our lives. I would strongly urge most Patriots to focus the lion’s share of their activities to the cause of surviving what is coming.

U.S. Economy 2016: 3 Classic Recession Signals Are Flashing Red

Red Light - Public DomainThose that were hoping for an “economic renaissance” in the United States got some more bad news this week.  It turns out that the U.S. economy is in significantly worse shape than the experts were projecting.  Retail sales unexpectedly declined in March, total business sales have fallen again, and the inventory to sales ratio has hit the highest level since the last financial crisis.  When you add these three classic recession signals to the 19 troubling numbers about the U.S. economy that I wrote about last week, it paints a very disturbing picture.  Virtually all of the signs that we would expect to pop up during the early chapters of a major economic crisis have now appeared, and yet most Americans still appear to be clueless about what is happening.
Even I was surprised when the government reported that retail sales had actually fallen in March.  Consumer spending is a very large part of our economy, and so if consumer spending is slowing down already that certainly does not bode well for the rest of 2016.  The following comes from highly respected author Jim Quinn
The Ivy League educated “expert” economists expected March retail sales to increase by 0.1%. They only missed by $6 billion, as retail sales FELL by 0.3%. They have fallen for three straight months. At least gasoline sales were strong, as prices have risen 22% since mid-February. That should do wonders for the finances of American households. If you exclude gasoline sales, retail sales fell by 0.4%. As the chart below reveals, the year over year change in retail sales has been at or near recessionary levels for most of 2015, and into 2016.
You can view the chart that he was referring to right here.  In addition to a decline in retail sales, total business sales have also been falling, and this is another classic recession signal.  The following comes from Wolf Richter
Total business sales fell again in February, the Commerce Department reported today. They include sales by manufacturers, retailers, and wholesalers of all sizes across the US economy. This measure is far broader than the aggregate sales by publicly traded companies, which too have been falling.
At $1.284 trillion in February, total business sales were down an estimated 0.4% from January, adjusted for seasonal and trading-day differences but not for price changes. And they were down 1.4% from the already beaten-down levels of February last year. They’re back where they’d first been in November 2012!
Yes, the stock market has been on quite a run for the past several weeks, but that temporary rebound is not based on the economic fundamentals.
The truth is that the real economy is definitely starting to slow down substantially.  If you want to break it down very simply, less stuff is being bought and sold and shipped around the country, and that tells us far more about what is coming in the months ahead than the temporary ups and downs of stock prices.
Another huge red flag is the fact that the inventory to sales ratio in the U.S. has hit the highest level that we have seen since the last financial crisis
The crucial inventory-to-sales ratio, which tracks how long unsold inventory sits around in relationship to sales, is now at a mind-bending 1.41. That’s the level the ratio spiked to in November 2008, after the Lehman bankruptcy in September had put the freeze on the economy.
Inventories represent prior sales by suppliers. When companies try to reduce their inventories, they cut their orders. Suppliers see these orders as sales. As their sales slump, suppliers adjust by cutting their own orders, thus causing the sales slump to propagate up the supply chain. They all react by cutting their expenses. And if it lasts, they’ll cut jobs. Inventory corrections have a nasty impact on the overall economy.
Because sales have slowed down, inventories are starting to pile up to alarmingly high levels.  And when companies see that business is slowing down, they start to let people go.
In a previous article, I told my readers that Challenger, Gray & Christmas is reporting that job cut announcements at major firms in the United States are up 32 percent during the first quarter of 2016 compared to the first quarter of 2015.
Somehow, most of the talking heads on television don’t seem too alarmed by this.
But ordinary Americans are beginning to become alarmed about what is happening.  In fact, the percentage of Americans that believe that the U.S. economy is “getting worse” is now the highest it has been since last August
One of the more glaring examples of how strong pessimism has become is Gallup’s U.S. Economic Confidence Index. The measure gauges the difference between respondents who say the economy is improving or declining. The most recent results are not good.
Fully 59 percent say the economy is “getting worse” against just 37 percent who say it is “getting better.” That gap of 22 percentage points is the worst since August, according to Gallup, which polled 3,542 adults.
Personally, I thought that we would be a little further down the road by now, but without a doubt a new economic downturn has begun in America.
So far, it is less severe than what most of the rest of the planet is experiencing.  Japan’s GDP is officially shrinking, major banks are failing all over Europe, and even CNN admits that what is going on down in Brazil is an “economic collapse”.
It’s funny – yesterday I took time out to write an article about the horrible suffering that ISIS sex slaves are enduring, and a few of my critics took that as a sign that there must not be enough bad economic news to write about.
Well, the truth is that this isn’t the case at all.  The global economic meltdown is steaming along, even if it is moving just a little bit slower than many of us had originally anticipated.  We are moving in the exact direction that myself and many others had warned about, and the rest of 2016 is looking quite ominous for the global economy.
So hopefully everyone (including the critics) is using whatever time we have left wisely.  Because I definitely wish the very best for everyone during the exceedingly hard times that are coming.

Ohio Man Receives 'Brain Chip' In Human-Computer Interface

An Ohio man paralyzed in an accident while diving in waves can now pick up a bottle or play the video game Guitar Hero thanks to a small computer chip in his brain.
Ian Burkhart's hands and legs were permanently paralyzed in a diving accident when he was 19 years old. But now with the help of a new, breakthrough computer chip - implanted in his brain - the, now, 24-year-old is playing guitar hero.
"When we first hooked everything up, you know for the first time being able to move my hand, it was a big shock because you know it was something that I have not moved in three and half years at that point, now it's more of something where I expect it to move."
The small pea-sized computer chip relays signals from Burkhart's brain through 130 electrodes to his forearm, allowing his mind guide his hands and fingers, bypassing his damaged spinal cord.

On Wednesday, scientists and neurosurgeons describing this quadriplegic's accomplishments as a milestone in the evolution of brain-computer interface technology.
"This really provides hope, we believe, for many patients in the future as this technology evolves and matures."

Burkhart says the progress is moving along faster than he imagined.
"The biggest dream would be to get full function of my hand back, both my hands, because that would allow you to be much more independent, not to have to rely on people for simple day to day tasks that you take for granted."
Scientists are working to improve the technology, which for now can only be used in the laboratory, and move toward a wireless system bringing Burkhart another step closer to his dream.

Is the 'Brain Chip' Another Step on the Path to Transhumanism?
Transhumanism is a philosophical and cultural position that encourages human advancement through technology. More specifically, transhumanism encourages the use of artificial enhancements to push mankind towards something “more than” human. Fundamentally, it is a form of Utopianism, the belief that human beings can change themselves and create a heaven on earth. The basic idea of improving the human condition is perfectly compatible with the Bible. In fact, it’s one of the purposes of a Christian lifestyle (John 10:10). But transhumanism contradicts the Bible when it assumes that humanity is completely sovereign and capable of self-directed change without the need for God (Jeremiah 17:9).

Like any other cultural movement, there are subsets and sub-genres of thought under the transhumanist tent. There are some admirable motivations behind transhumanism. For some, the intent is to reduce suffering or improve quality of life (Luke 12:33). Taken to an extreme, though, it can become a pursuit of immortality, an escape from moral boundaries, or a form of religion in and of itself. The ultimate redemption of mankind is something that will be accomplished by God alone (Revelation 21:1), not by technology.

Government To Sift Social Media Posts For Background Checks

Image result for automatically track public social media postings of people applying for security clearances.

The Office of Personnel Management is preparing for a pilot program to automatically track public social media postings of people applying for security clearances.

OPM is conducting market research to find companies that can perform automated social media tracking and other types of Web crawling as part of the background investigation process, according to an April 8 request for information posted online. Responses from interested companies are due by April 15.

OPM is looking for companies that can automatically browse “publicly available electronic information,” which includes information posted to news and media sites; Facebook, Twitter and other social media postings; blog postings; online court records, updates to photo and video-sharing sites; and information gleaned from online e-commerce sites, such as Amazon and eBay.

OPM is interested in companies that have fully automated capabilities — “with no human intervention,” according to the RFI — with the ability to search for information “in the parts of the World Wide Web whose contents are not indexed by standard search engines.”

Companies should also have a “robust identity matching algorithm” that won’t get tricked by similar names and return irrelevant results.

The pilot project tests the feasibility of obtaining social media tracking from commercial vendors and will be a joint effort between OPM, which is responsible for performing most federal employee background checks, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, according to an OPM spokesman.

Testing of the new tech will be conducted on a population of 400 investigations, the spokesman said, although there’s still no word on when the pilot project is set to get underway.

Scientists fear 'the Big One' is COMING as FOUR major earthquakes strike in 48 hours

There have been three large earthquakes recorded today, including a major one in southern Japan which destroyed buildings and left at least 45 people injured, after Myanmar was rocked yesterday.

Yesterday tremors were also felt as far as 500 miles away at the national park in India where the Royal couple Kate and William were visiting.

Today The Japanese Red Cross Kumamoto Hospital confirmed admitting 45 injured patients, including five with series problems after a quake of magnitude 6.2 to 6.5 and a series of strong after shocks ripped through Kumamoto city.

Several buildings were damaged or destroyed and at least six people are believed to be trapped under homes in Mashiki and local reports said one woman was rescued in critical condition

Scientists say there has been an above average number of significant earthquakes across south Asia and the Pacific since the start of the year.

The increased frequency has sparked fears of a repeat of the Nepal quake of 2015, when 8,000 people died, or even worse.

Roger Bilham, seismologist of University of Colorado, said: "The current conditions might trigger at least four earthquakes greater than 8.0 in magnitude.

"And if they delay, the strain accumulated during the centuries provokes more catastrophic mega earthquakes."

Yesterday's quake was followed by a 5.9-magnitude earthquake which struck off the coast of the southern Philippines.

The earthquake happened at 2.20am (Singapore time) off Mindanao island.

Local authorities said there was no tsunami risk and that they had not received reports of casualties or damage.

Buildings were destroyed by a powerful 6.4 magnitude quake which shook southern Japan today.

Japan's Meteorological Agency said the epicentre was in the Mashiki town in the Kumamoto prefecture.

Officials said the region's nuclear facilities were not affected.

A 6 magnitude earthquake also hit today off the coast of the Pacific island of Vanuatu, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

It was 53 miles from town Port Orly and the fourth one this week in the immediate area, after a 6.4-strength tremor hit a week earlier.

Vanuatu is on the "Pacific Ring of Fire," one of the most seismic parts of the globe and known for its earthquakes and volcanoes.

Today's quakes take the total to nine across Asia in a period of just over three and a half months - nearly three every month.

India's National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) says stress in the mountains of the north-east and the colliding of the Himalayan plate iand the Indo-Burmese plate in the to the puts the whole region on red alert.

Losing Their Edge: US Army Studies Russian Military

Image result for Russia possesses a variety of rocket, missile and cannon artillery systemsImage result for Russia possesses a variety of rocket, missile and cannon artillery systemsImage result for Russia possesses a variety of rocket, missile and cannon artillery systemsImage result for Russia possesses a variety of rocket, missile and cannon artillery systems

Fearing an "aggressive" Russia, US Army officials have revealed a top-secret study, reminiscent of the Cold War, to analyze the Kremlin’s military capabilities.

"It is clear that while our Army was engaged in Afghanistan and Iraq, Russia studied US capabilities and vulnerabilities and embarked on an ambitious, and largely successful, modernization effort," Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster told Politico.

A leading figure in the US Army, McMaster is currently overseeing a "high-level government panel" formed to decide how the Pentagon "should adapt to this Russian wake-up call."

Known as the Russia New Generation Warfare Study, the panel is concerned, in part, with Moscow’s success in Syria, and partly with imagined Russian aggressions in Eastern Europe.

"Russia possesses a variety of rocket, missile and cannon artillery systems that outrange and are more lethal than US Army artillery systems and munitions," he said.

To respond to Russian capabilities, the study hopes to find new ways to upgrade America’s own military, in what former NATO commander General Wesley Clark described to Politico as, "the most dramatic rethinking since the collapse of the Soviet Union."

"These are the kind of issues the US Army hasn’t worked [with] since the end of the Cold War 25 years ago."

While the fact that the US Army is undergoing a top secret study of Russian military strategy may not be altogether surprising, its methodology may be.

"The Yom Kippur War had a shock effect on the US Army," former Marine and president of the Potomac Foundation Phillip Karber told Politico.

In the aftermath of that war in 1973, US generals were sent to analyze derelict Russian tanks, and found them to be far more advanced than the Pentagon previously believed.

"It challenged decades of accumulated assumptions," Karber said.

For the Pentagon, the comparison of the Yom Kippur War is analogous to today. That conflict broke out while the US was distracted in Vietnam, and the US believes its more recent forays into Iraq and Afghanistan blinded it to a military resurgence in Russia.

While Moscow appears to have US military strategists in a panic, General Donn Starry stressed that victory lies in soldiers’ attitudes, not necessarily technical superiority.

"It is strikingly evident," he said, according to Politico, "that battles are yet won by the courage of soldiers, the character of leaders, and the combat experience of well-trained units."

Notwithstanding those noble sentiments,, the US Army probably won’t be shutting down its study any time soon.
