Rev. Graham: It’s ‘Open Season on Christians, Sin Is Openly Celebrated By The Highest Office In Our Land’

“We are perilously close to the moral tipping point for the survival” of America and it is “open season on Christians” now, said Reverend Franklin Graham, who added that “sin is openly celebrated and flaunted by the highest office in our land,” the White House, and “men and women of deep and sincere faith are publicly scorned.”

In his January 2016 commentary for Decision magazine, published by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Rev. Franklin Graham listed some of the major moral and spiritual problems crippling the country, and explained why he is launching a 50-state Christian revival, the Decision America Tour, next month.

America, since its founding, has enjoyed the blessing that comes with a people who freely acknowledge and practice their belief in God, but in recent decades that heritage has “been under relentless and vicious assault,” said Rev. Graham.

“Christians now find themselves constantly on the defensive from a progressive, godless culture that seeks to diminish and eradicate any religious influence in our society,” said Rev. Graham.

As an example, he cited how the New York Daily Newsmocked people of faith for offering prayers for the victims of the Islamist attack in San Bernardino that killed 14 people – the Daily News ran a headline, “God Isn’t Fixing This.”

“Rather than focusing on the brutality of an evil religion that slaughters in the name of their god, the editors chose to mock Christians like myself who extended God’s sympathy and care in heartfelt prayer,” said Rev. Graham.

He went on to note how the “most prestigious address in the United States,” the White House, adorned itself “in the colors of the gay rainbow to celebrate” homosexual marriage.

Also, who would have thought that in America “a football coach would be sanctioned by the state for praying at a high school game,” or that police officers with face lawsuits for “displaying decals with our national motto, ‘In God We Trust’?” said Graham.

“There now exists deep-seated antagonism and hostility toward Christianity in every seat of power in this nation—government, media, courts and education,” said the reverend. “It has become open season on Christians.”

“Sin is openly celebrated and flaunted by the highest office in our land, and men and women of deep and sincere faith are publicly scorned,” he said.

“I refuse to bow or bend,” Rev. Graham continued. “I refuse to be silent and watch the future of our children and grandchildren be offered up on pagan altars of personal pleasure and immorality.”

To help counter America’s moral and cultural decline, Rev. Graham’s Decision America Tour will hold religious rallies in the capitals of all 50 states between January and mid-October. Rev. Graham says the gatherings are designed to preach the Gospel and ask God “to heal our spiritually sick – and dying – land.”

There will be no politicians on the stage at the rallies. “I don’t have any hope that either Republicans or Democrats hold the key to the moral and spiritual revival of our nation,” said Rev. Graham. “My confidence and hope are in Almighty God.”

“First and foremost, I want people to pray for our land and our leaders,” said Rev. Graham. “Despite what the New York Daily News says, God can fix this. He works powerfully and effectively through prayer.”

Concluding his remarks, Rev. Graham said, “I don’t believe the foundation laid by our forefathers is destroyed just yet, but it certainly is cracked and crumbling.”

Franklin Graham is the president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and he also oversees the international Christian aid group Samaritan’s Purse. Graham, 63, is married and has five children. His father, Billy Graham, is 97.

Over the years, Billy Graham preached to more than 215 million people in 185 different countries, and he wrote 31 books. For more than 50 years he has regularly been ranked among one of the most admired people in the world.
