BRIEFCASES THAT IMITATE CELL TOWERS HELP AGENCIES TRACK PHONE CALLS

In the last year, Americans have become more and more aware of the scope and prevalence of tracking technology. From Snowden’s revelations about the National Security Agency to privacy breaches, the fact that the government and law enforcement agents can track people’s movement and data has ignited a debate about just how much privacy people are willing to give up in the name of law and order. Recently a new piece of technology used by police departments has come into focus: the Stingray.

The Stingray is a briefcase-size device manufactured by Florida-based telecommunications company Harris Corporation. The purpose of the Stingray is to imitate a cell-phone tower—forcing all nearby phones to attempt to connect with it. When phones do try to connect, the Stingray logs the information on that phone, everything from location information to the metadata that reveals what phone numbers you've been been texting and calling.

The Stingray was invented for use by the military, but recently local law-enforcement groups have started using the device—a controversial move, and one that may not even be legal, according to a recent report by the American Civil Liberties Union.

By law, Harris Corporation is required to apply for a permit to sell Stingray devices to law enforcement agencies with each new incarnation of this technology. And acccording to the ACLU’s investigation, the application the Federal Communications Commission accepted from the Harris Corporation— the one that allows them to sell the Stingray to police departments—may have contained seriously misleading language describing how the device would be used.

In an email from 2010, a Harris employee told the FCC their application to sell these devices to police departments was only to “provide state/local law enforcement officials with authority to utilize this equipment in emergency situations,” the ACLU discovered. But that doesn’t seem to be what’s actually happening. In fact, there is substantial evidence the police departments that have obtained the Stingray device used it for anything but emergency situations.

“There has been plenty of experience already with how law enforcement was using versions of this technology,” Nathan Freed Wessler, staff attorney with the ACLU's Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project, told me. In a letter to the FCC, the ACLU lays out a number of examples in which earlier versions of this technology have been in use by police departments around the country since as early as 2001. In Tallahassee, Florida, for example, the police department has used the Stingray well over 200 times since 2007 to investigate crimes like muggings and robberies. Less than a third of those reported cases involved an actual emergency, according to documents they’ve received.

In fact, the Miami-Dade police department wrote in a 2004 memorandum that earlier versions of the Stingray they had used proved to be an “invaluable tool” for the prevention of crime and the apprehension of criminals. “It's difficult to see how they would be able to prevent crime with one of these devices without sweeping in private information from large numbers of private and innocent individuals,” Wessler said. Police officers reportedly brought a Stingray to a Free Trade of the Americas conference in Miami to surveil protesters and hopefully learn of impending crimes before they were committed. In other words, the police used the device to spy on people practicing their First Amendment rights, Wessler said.

Police departments have argued that they cannot release information about their use of the Stingray for fear it would compromise national security investigations. According to Wessler, departments typically use grants from the Department of Homeland Security to obtain the device. But he noted that “it would be hard for them to use [national security] arguments in actual individual cases or examples of their use of this technology with a straight face.” In the case of Tallahassee, for example, none of the investigations involved national security issues.

Police departments have also been known to refuse to provide information about their use of the Stingray when journalists or organizations file Freedom of Information Act requests to learn about them because of a non-disclosure agreement the Harris Corporation forces them to sign. This stands in stark opposition to the Freedom of Information Act requests, which are supposed to be followed by the police whenever reasonably possible. Following such a non-disclosure agreement sends a clear message that police departments give more credence to the whims of a corporation than the requirements of the law. In Arizona, the ACLU filed a lawsuit against the Tucson Police Department over their refusal to disclose information about the Stingray. “State law should trump this agreement,” Dan Pochoda, legal director for the ACLU of Arizona, told the Tuscon Sentinel in March. “If they’re allowed to do this, it would eviscerate state law.”

You might think we can't blame the police departments for using the device as they see fit, because the application to the FCC was sent by the Harris Corporation, not the police. But according to the ACLU, many of these police departments knew the application was pending and sent letters to the FCC requesting they accept the application. “There would have been dialogue back and forth between Harris and local law enforcement that would have given Harris ample opportunity to know how these [Stingray devices] were already being used,” Wessler said. The police departments knew they were waiting on this application, and whether they knew the specific language of the application or not, there was certainly communication between the police and Harris that would have established for some of the people involved that the language was not accurate, as we can see from the emails the ACLU surfaced.

Regardless of the language used to justify the sale of the device to police departments, there might be other reasons to question the use of the Stingray device in general. “Even if law enforcement is tracking one particular suspect, they're capturing location information and identifying information of dozens, hundreds or even thousands of completely innocent bystanders, and that looks a whole lot like a dragnet search—the kind of general warrant the founders and the framers of the Fourth Amendment were trying to prevent.” The Fourth Amendment protects Americans from unreasonable search and seizure—if the police can search and seize information from your phone, even if you're a suspect of absolutely no crimes, then it's a violation of your constitutional rights.

The FCC has set up a task force to look into the unlawful use of the Stingray, but they're only looking to see if it has been used by foreign spies or domestic criminals. Their main objective is to find out if stalkers are using it to monitor citizens or if foreign governments are monitoring Congress or embassies in Washington, D.C.

The ACLU, on the other hand, wants to know if local police departments are using Stingrays to monitor citizens in a way that they feel should not be allowed. “At the very least, the FCC should be reevaluating these grants of authority to Harris to make sure that they're actually appropriate, in light of the actual effect,” Wessler told me. If the FCC investigated this possibility and found they were mislead in how the Stingray would be used by police, they could revoke the authorization for police departments using such technology.

Whether it be the crimes against minorities committed by police departments, the unprecedented militarization of the police in the past decade or the police acting as appendages of the NSA, it's becoming clear that policies of police forces in the United States are broken. The ACLU and human rights groups around the country are pleading for more information on what these authorities are doing in their day-to-day work, but they are forced to file information requests that only result in being given parts of the greater picture. Instead of a few emails between Harris and the FCC, the ACLU wants a copy of the actual application that was sent. But for now, they are limited to what the government is willing to give them—a string of emails between Harris employees and the FCC regulators who reviewed Harris's application. And from what they can tell based on those emails, today’s use of Stingrays lies in sharp contrast with how they were approved.

Central Bankers Puppet Obama Pushes "War On War"

Sam’s Club donates $2,500 to a Mosque that was named after military wing of Hamas

A Florida Family Association supporter happened to look up at the wall behind the checkout line at the Sam’s Club located at 2021 Brandon Boulevard in Brandon, Florida. He saw a large photograph of a check made out from Sam’s Club in the amount of $2,500 payable to the Islamic Community of Tampa located in the top left prominent position on the wall. Florida Family Association snapped a cellphone photograph. Photographs indicated that no other non-profit organization received more than $500.

Did Sam’s Club and parent company Wal-Mart know the following when it gave this store’s largest non-profit donation to the Islamic Community of Tampa?

The Islamic Community of Tampa is also known as the Al-Qassam mosque. The Military Wing of the Palestinian Hamas is called the Al-Qassam Brigade. InvestigativeProject.org reports “The mosque, according to Sami Al-Arian, was named after Izzedin al-Qassam. Al-Qassam, a Syrian killed fighting the British mandate in 1935, ‘is the main source of inspiration for the Islamic Jihad movement’ Palestinian scholar Ziad Abu Amr wrote in his book, Islamic Fundamentalism in the West Bank and Gaza. ‘The Islamic Jihad’s supporters have elevated him almost to a saintly status.’”
The Hamas rockets fired at Israel are named Qassam rockets.
Sami Al-Arian was indicted in February 2003 on 17 counts under the Patriot Act for allegedly being the leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). In 2006, Al-Arian pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to make or receive contributions of funds, goods or services for the benefit of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and was sentenced to 57 months in prison.
Sami Al-Arian refused to testify before a Federal Grand Jury regarding other Jihad activities. U.S. District Judge James Moody ruled that Al-Arian must testify. A Virginia District Court held that Sami Al-Arian had no legal basis to refuse to testify. The court held him in civil contempt, and imprisoned him on November 16, 2006. Sami Al-Arian was released from prison on June 27, 2014 after the United States Department of Justice dropped charges.
Sami Al-Arian served as the Chairman of the Islamic Community of Tampa.
The Islamic Community of Tampa has been a member of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and derived their tax exempt status from ISNA. Sami Al-Arian’s letter written on Islamic Community of Tampa – Masjid al-Qassam stationery stated “We are an affiliated member of the Islamic Society of North America(ISNA) and derive our tax exempt status under 501 C 3 of the IRS code through them.” Click here for report regarding concerns about ISNA.
The Islamic Community of Tampa hosted a propaganda event for the Council on America Islamic Relations (CAIR Florida) in February 2012. Click here for a report regarding concerns about CAIR.

U.S. Allegedly Strikes ISIS In Syria, What's The Real Agenda? - Episode 474

Why Isn’t America “As Mad As Hell” and Unwilling to “Take It Anymore”?

Howard Bloom, Yale literature professor and cultural critic, recently stated “I am 79 years old and I have never seen this country in such a bad state. It is madness. What we are seeing is the fall of the Roman Empire, only now it is the fall of America, the glory of our Empire.”

Ebola threatens to sweep across America. The United States sits on the brink of World War III. The economy is teetering on collapse. The Chinese are on the verge of owning your possessions and you and this arrangement was agreed to by people who were elected to “protect and defend the Constitution”. The UN is poised to be in charge of the demise of this country when martial law is declared. The eternal “bail outs” have robbed this generation and future generations of any chance at financial solvency. America has more people on welfare than are working full time. Election fraud is rampant. American students continue to fall further behind our international cohorts. The average person cannot even name one thing that the Obama administration has done to improve the condition of the middle class, yet, he got re-elected. One visit, for one day to Steve Quayle’s website and one radio broadcast from Doug and Joe Hagmann, or from Sheila Zilinski should be enough to summon the spirits of Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Paine and we should be witnessing the creation of a new Declaration of Independence and a re-creation of the pamphlet entitled Common Sense, for which my radio show and website are named.

Is There Any Life On This Planet?

As I look at America’s daunting and mounting dilemmas, I cannot help wondering, “Isn’t it time to get mad, mad as hell”? In response to my multi-part series on the unaddressed dangers posed by Ebola, many of you have written to me and expressed some very heartfelt consternation of the present set of affairs. Yet, nobody does anything!
There can be little doubt that America needs a rallying call to action if we are to reverse the destructive path we have embarked upon. The middle class is in desperate need of a spokesperson, somebody who could awaken the masses and spur an apathetic America to action. Who could provide this much needed clarion call? Will it be Glenn Beck? Or, maybe, Rush Limbaugh will heed the call and step forward. NOT LIKELY! Perhaps it will be Hannity. No way! Every one of these media figures are too mainstream and too entrenched in the existing system to effectively take the torch and lead America out of the abyss that it finds itself in. What if America did find its spokesperson? What would it sound like? What form would it take? Right now, the best America can do comes from a movie character and this character was introduced to movie goers over 35 years ago. I am speaking about Howard Beale.
Who could ever forget the classic move Network and the mythical broadcaster, Howard Beale, and his impassioned attempt to get America “as mad as hell” and not “to take it anymore!”

What if Howard Beale were to attempt to call America to action today? What would it sound like? It might go something like the following:
“I don’t have to tell you that things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. We are in the greatest depression of all time. Several hundred thousand Americans lost their jobs last month and several million more afraid of losing their jobs. Thanks to the FED, the dollar buys a penny’s worth; your local bank is only still open through the forced “generosity” of your hard-earned tax dollars in the form of bailouts in the biggest wealth distribution plan in all of recorded history”.

A modern day Beale would go on to say “We know the air is unfit to breathe, we are being sprayed by Chemtrails and our genetically modified food is unfit to eat. And we sit watching our TV’s as some local newscaster tells us that the Dow is approaching 6,000, the FDIC and Social Security are near insolvency. Because of the NDAA, the government can secretly snatch you off the street and nobody knows what to do about it. We know things are bad—worse than bad—they’re crazy! It’s like everything, everywhere is going crazy. So, we don’t go out anymore because we cannot afford the photo radar tickets and the toll road fees. We sit in our soon-to-be foreclosed homes and slowly the world we’re living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, “Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my satellite TV and  my MP3 players as well as my smartphone, and I won’t say anything. Well, I’m not going to leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don’t want you to protest, the new DARPA weapons  of citizen subjugation that would render protest effort to be futile. I don’t want you to riot, NORTHCOM and DHS lie in wait. I don’t want you to write to your Congressman, because they are already bought and paid for by the forces that are already at work trying to enslave you. I don’t know what to do about the depression, the Russians and the Chinese and neither does Obama. I also don’t know what to do about inflation, your lost pension and the crime in the streets.” All I know is that first, you’ve got to get mad. You’ve gotta say, “I’m a human being, (bleep)! My life has value!”
“So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell, “I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!!“

Fortunately, most Americans are angry, terribly angry as evidenced by Congress’ 7% approval rating. Unfortunately, most of America does not know where to direct their anger or who is responsible for our declining fortunes and we are quickly running out of time.
To the sheep of America, there is nothing more that anyone can tell you. My media colleagues have identified the great usurpers of the Constitution. Thanks to many in the media, the names of the robber barons are on display for all to see as well as their crimes against humanity. There is nothing more that I can write or that Doug and Joe Hagmann can broadcast. We, in the media have made the information known to anyone who takes the time to look. If you do not get it by now, it is not likely that you ever will as you have likely accepted your enslavement with a smile.

Where is Howard Beale when we need him the most? Look in the mirror, America, YOU are Howard Beale and it is time to get as mad as hell!

US Airstrikes Kill 11 Civilians Inculding Children near Syria's Aleppo

MOSCOW, September 24 (RIA Novosti) -Airstrikes, carried out by the United States against the so-called Nusra Front insurgents in northwestern Syria, have killed 11 civilians, including four children, Al Jazeera reported Wednesday, citing an undisclosed Syrian opposition source.

Al Jazeera quoted local opposition activists as saying that the civilians were killed as US aircraft hit a residential building in the city of Idlib near Aleppo. The building was located near the headquarters of the Nusra Front, or Jabhat al-Nusra, an al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria.

The Pentagon said the attacks near Aleppo targeted the facilities of the Khorasan militant group, composed of al-Qaeda veterans, who were allegedly plotting strikes on US soil, and actively recruiting Westerners.

Earlier, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the attacks, carried out by Washington and its Arab allies, killed 31 civilians.

The US has formed a multinational coalition to fight various terrorist groups, in the Middle East after arguably the most notorious of them, the Islamic State (IS) seized large parts of Syria and Iraq, proclaiming a caliphate. The rapid advance of the IS prompted the White House to authorize airstrikes against IS fighters on Iraqi territory in August.

The US-led coalition performed the first series of airstrikes, drone attacks and Tomahawk missiles launches targeting insurgents in Syria on Tuesday, which reportedly continued on Wednesday.

"Blow the Shofar at the New Moon for our holiday
Because It Is a Decree for Israel, a Judgment Day for the God of Jacob" - Psalms 81

Jews around the world prepare for Rosh Hashanna this week, the festiveNew Year holiday when the shofar -- ram's horn -- is blown in synagogues.

The American Colony photographers recorded a dozen pictures of Jewish elders blowing the shofar in Jerusalem some 80 years ago. The horn was also blown in Jerusalem to announce the commencement of the Sabbath. During the month prior to Rosh Hashana, the shofar was blown at daily morning prayers to encourage piety before the High Holidays.
