Italy gives green light to pivotal referendum which could DESTROY the EU

Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said victory in the poll would end Italy's notoriously shaky political system that has prevented any government completing a full term since the Second World War.

But defeat will mean the end of the line for pro-Brussels Mr Renzi who has promised to quit if voters do not approve his constitutional changes.

It is a huge political gamble for the pro-EU centre-left leader with opinion polls showing many of the 50 million voters are undecided and the "No" camp gaining momentum in what will be a very close campaign.

Support for opposition parties who want away from Brussels and have been emboldened by Britain's historic decision to pull away from the EU is growing and the battleground is being set.

And if enough anti-EU protest voters are mobilised to outnumber those who back Mr Renzi's reform proposals he will be forced to pack his bags and Italy's membership of the bloc will be brought into sharp focus.

Such a result would be a hammer blow for the EU - and could spark a domino effect in the dozens of other critical votes across the eurozone that are set to be held.

A recent ECFR report revealed there are a total of 34 public votes lined up to be held in Europe which will be crucial to the future of the Brussels union.

Today's legal move saw the Court of Cassation validate the more than 500,000 signatures needed for the referendum to be held.

The Constitutional Court has ruled to annul a provision that punishes all sexual acts against children under the age of 15 as “sexual abuse,” stirring outrage from academics and women’s rights activists who warn that the decision will lead to cases of child abuse going unpunished. 

The Constitutional Court discussed the issue upon an application from a district court, which complained that the current law does not discriminate between age groups in cases of child sexual abuse and treats a 14-year-old as equal to a four-year-old.

The local court said the law does not provide legal consequences for the “consent” of victims in cases where the child victim is from 12 to 15 years of age and able to understand the meaning of the sexual act. “This creates an imbalance between legal benefits and sanctions that should be preserved in crime and punishment,” the application stated.

With seven votes against six, the Constitutional Court agreed with the local court and decided to annul the provision. The decision will come into effect on Jan. 13, 2017.

The local court’s argument and the Constitutional Court’s endorsement have drawn a backlash from academic and human rights circles, which underlined that all individuals under the age of 18 are considered children according to international conventions to which Turkey is a party.

“First of all, every individual under the age of 18 is a ‘child’ according to international conventions. Seeking a child’s consent in cases of sexual abuse is out of the question,” the chair of the Association to Prevent Child Abuse and Neglect, Professor Bahar Gökler, told Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency.

Gökler said this “calamitous” decision was in violation of child rights.

The general secretary of the same association, Professor Aysun Baransel, said consent could be sought in cases of sexual intercourse between peers, but it was impossible to speak of consent if the case involves a 60-year-old and a 15-year-old child.

“The most important point is that unless this provision is urgently addressed, child abusers will start walking around freely because there is no new regulation [to fill the void],” Baransel said.

US Government Greenlights Human-Animal ‘Hybrid’ Monsters

Tom Horn has been researching and writing about transhumanism for years, resulting in his documentary, “Inhuman,” which recently won both the Silver and Bronze Telly Awards. He says there are ethical issues.

“These are the questions philosophers and theologians have debated since the dawn of time, but in the Bible only mankind is described as having God’s breath breathed into them at the moment of their creation,” Horn recently told Sid Roth on his syndicated show.

“For conservative Christians, this should be a major point of debate regarding the ‘ethics’ of bringing people back from the dead.” Could a person be returned alive, and, “What would they then be?” Horn asks.

“Are they a living construct no longer suitable as a fit-extension of the Holy Spirit? Or would they be fine and the miraculous science that brought them back to life celebrated by all believers? These were the type of difficult questions we sought to answer in the documentary ‘Inhuman.’”

WND has previously reported on such “transhuman” goals. In one case, a U.S. biotech company was given permission to recruit 20 brain-dead patients to test if parts of their central nervous systems can be regenerated.

The company, Bioquark Inc., plans to use a soup of stem cells and peptides on the brains of the patients over a six-week period to see if it can jump-start their functions.

Philadelphia-based Bioquark asks on its website: “What if your body came with a restart button?”

WND also reported last winter on the growing promise of anti-aging or “gene therapy” science, a technology known as CRISPR/Cas9. It purports to deliver immortality to human beings and has attracted support from some of the world’s richest men, Peter Thiel, co-founder of PayPal, Ray Kurzwell of Google, Oracle founder Larry Ellison, venture capitalist Paul Glenn and Russian multi-millionaire Omitry Itskov.

Beside injecting the brain with stem cells and peptides, scientists at Bioquark say they will use lasers and nerve stimulation therapies that have been shown to bring people out of comas.

Christian author and filmmaker Tom Horn has warned scientists are redefining what it means to be human, with the goal of “transcending” humanity.

“Right here in North Carolina at your university, they have what is called a transgenic lab, which means they have mice that have human genetic material, for testing to see if the human parts in that animal are responding,” he told TV host Sid Roth in an interview at the time.

Using the CRISPR gene-editing technique, one university lab cured cancer in a group of rats, but the rats started aging quickly and died at half-life, “and nobody knows why that happened,” Horn said. “There is a danger in playing God because you’re not God and you don’t know.”

Top aide Huma Abedin warned colleagues Hillary was 'often confused'

Hillary Clinton needed hand-holding with her daily schedule and was 'often confused' while she was secretary of state, her former top aide and 'body woman' Huma Adebin wrote a colleague in a January 2013 email.

The message, to coworker Monica Hanley, followed a back-and-forth about Clinton's schedule of calls with foreign leaders, including an 8:00 a.m. appointment to speak with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

'Have you been going over calls with her for tomorrow? So she knows singh [sic] ls at 8?' Abedin asked Hanley just before 5:00 p.m. on a Saturday.

'She was in bed for a nap by the time I heard that she had an 8am call,' Hanley replied three minutes later. 'Will go over with her.'

'Very imp[ortant] to do that. She's often confused,' Abedin told her.

It wasn't the first time Hanley had to keep up with Clinton's weekend sleeping schedule. In an email released by the State Department in May, she tried to reach the then-secretary of state four days after the deadly terror attacks in Benghazi, Libya.

Clinton missed a meeting at the White House for President Obama's daily national security briefing because she overslept.

Hanley emailed Clinton at 9:17 that morning to let her know that White House Senior Adviser Dan Pfeiffer' had 'some sensitive items that he would like to personally show you when he arrives.'

Clinton didn't reply until 10:43, hearly an hour and a half later.
