Horror as China tears down THOUSANDS of crucifixes in crude bid to eradicate Christianity
CHRISTIAN communities in China have been left horrified after the government started tearing down THOUSANDS of crucifixes in a crude bid to eradicate the faith in the country.
More than two thousand crosses have now been forcefully removed from churches as part of a government campaign to regulate “excessive religious sites”.
The nation’s leadership launched the crusade to eradicate Christianity in the coastal province of Zhejiang almost two years ago.
Several members of the public have since been arrested for attempting to halt the government's crude attempt to suppress the Christian faith.
Among the arrested was prominent human rights lawyer Zhang Kai, who was detained after he mounted a legal campaign to challenge the removal of the crosses.
Mr Kai was detained for six months before he was "forced" to appear on the State channel to "confess" his crimes against the Chinese governement by supporting the anti-establishment protest of the demolition of crucifixes.
Local Christian leaders condemned the forced confession from the lawyer, who also represented a group Christians who were detained for suspected financial crimes last year after they protested at the demolation of crosses, in a public letter.
Christian charity China Aid confirmed just before Easter that more than 2000 crosses had now been demolished by the government as part of their “Three Rectifications and One Demolition” campaign.
It also claimed that since the beginnning of 2016 to early March, 49 Churches had been destroyed in the rampage to abolish Christianity.
Restriction in the country make it difficult to provide an accurate estimate of how many Christians live in China, but Government figures suggest there are more than 28 million people, both Protestant and Catholic, practising the faith to date.
Last year it was revealed that China is on track to have the world’s largest population of Christians with the figure surging to more than 247 million by 2030.

China Grows Its External Military Might With Peacekeeping Operations
Recent changes in Chinese law, together with a large participation in peacekeeping operations could mean that China is honing its military for use abroad.
China will continue increasing its military force projection abroad, military analyst Vasily Kashin told Sputnik.
Over 2,200 Chinese military and police took part in United Nations peacekeeping missions in 2015, becoming one of the largest sources of peacekeepers. According to Kashin, this could mean greater future power projection abroad.
"Participation in such operations on the one hand increases the international authority of the PRC, and on the other — makes it possible to prepare a significant number of military personnel with the experience of living abroad and contacts with people of other cultures," Kashin wrote.
He added that the number of military exercises conducted together with other countries has also grown. However, it was not until the 2011 Libyan conflict, that China began operations for evacuating its citizens overseas.
"Recent changes in Chinese law allow the PRC to use its armed forces and police special forces to fight terrorism abroad," Kashin added.

297 U.S. Airports Do NOT Screen Employees Before Work On A Daily Basis
By BI: A Senate committee heard that only three – Atlanta, Miami and Orlando – require their employees to be security-checked before beginning their work day…leaving the other 297 airports vulnerable to a Brussels-airport style attack.

Clarion Project At Senate Commerce Committee session, lawmakers heard that only three airports in the United States require their employees to undergo a security check before they begin their work day.
“Atlanta, Miami, Orlando. What about the other 297 airports nationwide?” asked committee co-chair Senator Bill Nelson (D-Florida).
TSA (Transportation Security Administration) head Robert Neffenger answered that while the TSA has “increased the inspection of employees five-fold in the last five months,” more needs to be done. Neffenger said that all airports were asked to provide a report by the end of the month assessing their vulnerabilies.
A 2015 TSA committee concluded most airports could not afford daily employee screening. In addition, they said the full screening would not “appreciably increase the overall system-wide protection.”
“No single measure can provide broad-spectrum protection against risks or adversaries,” the committee concluded. “Therefore, risk-based, multi-layered security offers the greatest ability to mitigate risks through the application of flexible and unpredictable measures to protect commercial aviation.”

The report argued daily screening “is incapable of determining a person’s motivations, attitudes and capabilities to cause harm, among other limitations.”
The Senate committee also heard from Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, who assured the Senators recent reports that 73 airport employees were suspected to have terrorist ties were misleading.
“It’s not necessarily that they’re suspected terrorists. It’s that they hadn’t been vetted through all available databases,” Johnson said.
After filing a Freedom of Information Act request, CBS’ Washington bureau learned last month at which airports improperly-vetted staff worked. The airports included Sea-Tac Airport in Seattle, Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta, Logan Airport in Boston and Orlando International, Orlando-Sanford and Memphis International.
