Syrian ambassador defects, joins revolution against Assad

AMMAN - Syria's ambassador to Iraq Nawaf al-Fares said on Wednesday he had defected and joined the revolution against President Bashar Assad, becoming the first senior diplomat to quit the embattled government.

Fares called on Syrian soldiers to follow his lead and turn their guns on the Damascus leadership, in a video statement posted on Facebook

"I ask ... the members of the military to join the revolution and to defend the country and the citizens ... Turn your guns towards the criminals from this regime," he added."I declare that I have joined, from this moment, the ranks of the revolution of the Syrian people," Fares said.

Fares was filmed speaking in front of the green and white Syrian flag from the era before the Baath Party took power five decades ago. He did not give details of his location.

He did not spell out his reasons for defecting, but repeatedly said government forces has been killing civilians during its crackdown on the 16-month-old uprising.

Nawaf, a Sunni Muslim tribal figure from eastern Syria, was appointed in 2008 as ambassador to Baghdad, a sensitive post after a three-decade freeze in diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He was seen as a safe choice, as he had previously served as the top official in Assad's Baath Party in the province of Deir al-Zor. He is also a member of the Ogeidat tribe, a major clan long allied to Syria's Alawite ruling minority.

ILO warns eurozone risks losing 4.5 million more jobs

The eurozone could lose 4.5 million more jobs in the next four years unless the region shifts away from austerity, the International Labour Organization (ILO) has warned.

That rise would take unemployment in the 17-nation bloc to 22 million.

The ILO said a concerted policy shift away from austerity towards job creation was needed.

"It's not only the eurozone that's in trouble, the entire global economy is at risk of contagion," it said.

The report said that all 17 countries in the eurozone would suffer, both those currently under stress and their healthier counterparts.

"Unless targeted measures are taken to increase real economy investments, the economic crisis will deepen and the employment recovery will never take off," said ILO director-general Juan Somavia.

The report added that the consequences of a longer period of austerity would be particularly severe for young people.

It said that unemployment had not been as bad so far in the downturn as it might have been because some companies were hanging onto staff in the hope of an imminent recovery.

NATO and Russian naval-air buildup in E. Mediterranean, French units to Gulf

NATO, which proclaims non-involvement in the Syrian conflict, and Russia, which vows to block foreign military action against the Assad regime, are both moving large naval forces into the eastern Mediterranean opposite Syrian shores.
A flotilla of at least 11 Russian warships has been detached from Caspian Sea, Black Sea and North Sea fleet bases and is on its way to the Syrian coast for a maneuver; NATO has consigned its rapid response Maritime Group 2 to the same stretch of sea - where also five Israeli warships are deployed. The Western alliance has also increased surveillance flights over the Mediterranean from the Geilenkirchen air base in Germany.

This rush of military movements is explained officially by the big air-and-sea exercise launched by Syria Sunday, July 8, to simulate outside aggression. It follows Iran’s practice of continuous military drills for repelling mock Western or Israel attacks.

The exercise began with a barrage of dozens of surface-to-sea missiles simulating naval and shore defense against approaching enemy craft and landing forces.
At about the same time, Iran embarked on a big air-cum-missile defense exercise in the south to fight off potential aggression from the direction of the Gulf of Oman and the Gulf of Aden, where US air force units are clustered.

DEBKAfile’s military sources report that this is the first simultaneous, coordinated Syrian-Iranian military maneuver for drilling action against an advancing enemy. It is synchronized from a joint headquarters established for the purpose in Damascus.

While these coordinated maneuvers are being presented as designed to fend off foreign intervention in the Syrian conflict, our sources report that they are in fact preparing for a potential US attack on Iran’s nuclear program, which is now expected in Gulf and European military quarters to take place in October, three months hence.

High-ranking Saudi princes associated with their national military and intelligence agencies frankly confided to Arab and Western officials on recent visits to Riyadh that the US and, possibly Israel too, are on the verge of war on Iran. “It is already decided,” they say. The only question still open is the date, which could be before or after the US presidential election on November 6.

In line with this prediction, France is reported in Paris to be massing a large naval force in the United Arab Emirates. The French nuclear aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle-R91 is expected to dock soon at the French naval base in Port Zayid on Abu Dhabi’s northeastern coast opposite the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The French are also boosting their air units at Al Dhafra Air Base, stationing them alongside a large American air force presence.

The Inauguration of the Man of Sin

As I have been writing recently about the rise of Satan’s end time kingdom in the earth, one thing that has been in focus is the high-rise towers that serve as symbols of his rule upon the earth. If you missed the post, you can find one that focuses on the One World Trade Center tower in New York City that will top out at 1776 feet high, and will be the tallest building in America.

In the most recent post I wrote of a tower inaugurated this week in London which also stands as a symbol of Satan’s kingdom rising. The tower is the tallest building in the European Union and is called The Shard.




The Shard

In the previous post I had remarked on the unusual opening for this building in London. Rather than being referred to as a “Grand Opening” or a “Dedication Ceremony,” it was officially referred to as an “Inauguration.” I mentioned that inaugurations are normally reserved for living beings. One might have a Presidential inauguration, but not a building inauguration. There is much to be revealed in this, for it is not by happenstance that The Shard was “inaugurated.”

I have an interest in the etymology (origins) of words. The word “inaugurate” has a dark history. In Roman times, an Augur was a man who could read omens. Another title for an Augur was a Soothsayer. In modern parlance an Augur might be called a Fortune Teller, or a Prophet.

The term Augur came from the practice of observing flocks of birds in flight and reading messages from what was observed.

The word “Augur” is derived from the Latin avis, (bird), and garrire, (to talk, or to tell). The Augur would receive messages from the birds in the heavens as he observed their formations and flight. He would also listen to the birds’ song, observe what they ate, and examine their entrails. The Augur understood the arcane minutiae of these omens, and would translate their meaning for those who called upon his services.

That The Shard was “inaugurated” is significant, for it relates to the rising of Satan’s kingdom and the soon unveiling of the man of sin, the antichrist, whom the dragon (Satan) will give his authority and power to in these last days.

Revelation 13:2-4
And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave him his power and his throne and great authority. I saw one of his heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed. And the whole earth was amazed and followed after the beast; they worshiped the dragon because he gave his authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?"

Keep in mind that a dragon is a winged creature of flight. The dragon is prince and ruler over all the winged creatures of the air. The Bible commonly refers to Satan, those fallen angels and unclean spirits in league with him, as birds. Following are a few select passages in which this typology is used.

Mark 4:3-4, 13-15
"Listen to this! Behold, the sower went out to sow; as he was sowing, some seed fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate it up... And He said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? How will you understand all the parables? The sower sows the word. These are the ones who are beside the road where the word is sown; and when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them.”

Revelation 18:2
And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird.”

In this last passage, the two highlighted phrases are parallel to one another. Demons and unclean spirits are synonymous with unclean and hateful birds. Building further upon this symbolism, as the inauguration of The Shard was taking place, the London Philharmonic Orchestra was performing the last movement from Igor Stravinsky’s Firebird. The fabled Firebird (Phoenix) was believed to be a source of power that men could wield to accomplish their carnal desires, but it was at hazard of their lives that they did so, for the Firebird was a bringer of doom to those who sought to use its power. Even so, those men who seek to wield the power of Satan will suffer for their error.

The services of an Augur were especially sought after when it was time for a man to enter into a position of ruling. This is how the word “augur” came to be connected to our modern word “inauguration.” Kings, Presidents, and other rulers are inaugurated. Prior to their accession to their position of ruling, these leaders would call for an Augur. They wanted to know when the most auspicious time would be for their rule to begin. They would ask for omens (signs) that would testify of the success of their rule, and they would be wary if the omens indicated trouble, treachery, or intrigue.

The Latin word inaugurare literally means “to install an official after consulting the birds.” There should be no doubt in this particular instance whom the birds are that men have been consulting. Those men of power behind the scenes of this fallen world system have been consulting with Satan, with demons and unclean spirits, to determine when the time is most auspicious to bring forth a world ruler after the pattern of Nimrod who ruled in Babel.

We live in an age when towers are being constructed, and Babylon is rising in the earth.




Tower of Babel

What are the great men of the earth consulting with the prince of the power of the air, and the spiritual forces of wickedness in high places, about? They want to know when the time is right for the establishment of world rule, and for the unveiling of the one who will rule as Satan’s emissary upon the earth. The hour is near at hand. I anticipate that the London Olympics, with their highly symbolic opening and closing ceremonies, will be used to broadcast the plans of Satan to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear.

Why should these things interest the Christian? That man whom Satan will endue with his power and authority will make war with the saints of God. In the same passage from the book of Revelations where John reveals that Satan will give his power to the beast, we read the following:

Revelation 13:5-10
There was given to him a mouth speaking arrogant words and blasphemies, and authority to act for forty-two months was given to him. And he opened his mouth in blasphemies against God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, that is, those who dwell in heaven. It was also given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, and authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation was given to him. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain. If anyone has an ear, let him hear. If anyone is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; anyone who is destined to die by the sword, will die by the sword. Here is the perseverance and the faith of the saints.

Undoubtedly it will take some time for these events to play out. The signs are indicating that we are entering the end of the age. Scriptures are being fulfilled, and it is appointed to you and I to be part of this final generation when this age must reach its tumultuous climax. I anticipate that there will be some great cataclysmic events that will strike terror into the hearts of all men and nations, inducing them to cry out for a world leader to act as a savior for mankind. This will set the stage for Satan to introduce his antichrist as a man of peace. What this event will be, I can only guess. Perhaps it will be the fall of America as she is burned with the fires of civil unrest, and nuclear terrorism.

Whatever is to take place, the saints should understand that the hour is late. Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy. The earth must go through her birth pangs, but through it all there will be manifest mature sons of power in the image of Christ.

For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God... For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.

I anticipate that the year 2013 will be a pivotal year in the establishment of Babylon upon the earth. As I mentioned in the first post of the series titled Babylon Rising, the One World Trade Center is scheduled to be completed and ready for occupancy in 2013. The number 13 is highly significant, and corresponds to that rebellious work of Satan being unfolded upon the earth. E.W. Bullinger has the following to say about the Biblical significance of this number.

As to the significance of thirteen, all are aware that it has come down to us as a number of ill-omen. Many superstitions cluster around it, and various explanations are current concerning them.


Unfortunately, those who go backwards to find a reason seldom go back far enough. The popular explanations do not, so far as we are aware, go further back than the Apostles. But we must go back to the first occurrence of the number thirteen in order to discover the key to its significance. It occurs first in Gen 14:4, where we read "Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and the thirteenth year they REBELLED."


Hence every occurrence of the number thirteen, and likewise of every multiple of it, stamps that with which it stands in connection with rebellion, apostasy, defection, corruption, disintegration, revolution, or some kindred idea...

Bullinger later reflects upon the relationship of this number to the enemies of God as revealed in Gematria (the substitution of number for letters).

America was born of rebellion. The nation recently celebrated the beginning of the rebellion whose original date was July 4, 1776. This is the same year the Bavarian Illuminati was formed. America began with 13 colonies, and its first flag had 13 stars and 13 stripes. The number 13 is still figured prominently in the symbols of this nation which has become the leader in re-establishing Babylon on the earth.

Yahweh separated the people at Babel into tongues and tribes and nations. America has become the great melting pot bringing all nations back together into one homogenous entity, with one language, one currency, one government. The United States has become the seat of the United Nations as the world has progressed closer to that final goal of Satan to establish his visible rule over all mankind.

Brothers and sisters, the hour is indeed very late. We are seeing great darkness cover the earth as Satan’s kingdom rises. It is not coincidental that as the stage is set for Satan’s world government to be unveiled that the murder of the unborn, and the celebration of abominations such as homosexuality have become the order of the day. This past week America manifested new depths of depravity as one of her Congressional leaders entered into a homosexual marriage union with another man. The governor of Massachusetts officiated as numerous government leaders including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and others were in attendance to celebrate the depravity of mankind.

I suspect it will not be very long before I will no longer be able to post such blogs online. Even now Google, the company that hosts this blog site, has come out as an ardent promoter of homosexuality. They have announced a campaign called “Legalize Love” which seeks to pressure nations that censure homosexual behavior to adopt a pro-homosexual stance.

If Google is pressuring nations to embrace sexual deviancy, they certainly will not permit their own Internet services to be used to promote holiness and righteous sexual conduct much longer. How hypocritical for a company whose corporate motto is “Don’t be evil.”

There are many signs pointing to the fact that we are approaching the end of the age. Not only are homosexual’s coming “out of the closet,” but Satan, the great dragon, is also planning his coming out party. Look for an announcement at the London Olympics.

Hot Weather killing Thousands of Fish

Fish are showing up dead by the thousands on shores across the United States. Scientists say high temperatures leading to low dissolved oxygen levels and excessive microscopic algae bloom are the likely causes of some 6,000 gizzard shad and 600 adult white perch deaths in Delaware.

Surface water testing showed dissolved oxygen levels low enough to be lethal to fish in Delaware’s Silver Lake. “As long as these conditions persist, there’s a chance of more fish kills in Delaware,” said John Clark, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Fisheries Section administrator, in an interview with NBC.

“Aggravating this summertime problem, increased temperatures lead to warmer water, which holds less dissolved oxygen. So seeing more fish kills this year as the heat continues would come as no surprise.”

In northwestern South Carolina, some 500 fish were found dead at Lake Hartwell, a popular fishing destination on the border with Georgia. South Dakota and Tennessee have also reported that an extremely high number of fish were found dead in multiple lakes and rivers. Knoxville, Tennessee residents described the terrible stench of about 10,000 dead bluegills in their neighborhood.
